Hi everyone :hello:
Haven't had time to read all the posts, but will endeavour to catch up soon.
I'm still in the land of the living ..... just. Working all hours God sends, and then someAm still sat at my PC sorting out final drafts for the print outs of my prices, initial offers etc. Was up till 11.30 the other night typing out bits and pieces. Have to sort out my presentation cos my business launch is next Wedsnesday evening ..... gulp.
My MIL and SIL are here this weekend too. They aren't coming at Christmas so I'm doing the Christmas lunch on Sunday then we are off to see the Blackpool illuminations in the evening. I've so much to do business-wise as wellAh well, Mr TM can take them and the boys out all day tomorrow.
You'll be pleased to hear that I'm still being OS. Today saw me making soup, shepherds pie and banana and walnut loaf, with phone clamped to my ear, on the case of the graphic designers :rotfl: House is now clean and shopping all done. Had to wrap MIL and SIL's xmas pressies - whilst keeping phone and notepad with me. (Mr TM is being as supportive as ever in my business venture.... as in .... "I hope you're not spending too much money on this thing"!!)
Anyway, despite having developed full-blown insomnia (1 hour's sleep on Weds night) I'm still functioning. Thank heavens for my liking of expensive make-up .... it's really coming into its own right now)
So, (((hugs))) all round. Love the name Charlie for the baby tooHope those who are ill feel better soon.
Oh, and those who have read about the vodka "mishap" on the OS disasters thread will be pleased to know that it is very nice with some coke. (hic) Well, better use it up or it would be a waste (hic)
Well, still got stuff to do, before MIL etc turn up from airport. Best crack on. Catch ya all soon
TM xxx
ps Sorry - I'm still not saying what my business is ... just yetYou can all guess and a packet of Lidl teabags to the winner (except for the few who already know that is!!)

scuzz wrote:My contract just says I'm not entitled to overtime. So guess that means I'm out of the WTD. We have no choice here. It's sign or no job. I never get a lunch break either, but they only pay me 7.5 hours a day, not 8.5, which is how long I'm here (minimum) I work in local radio.
As far as I understand it, the working time directive is automatically in place for everyone no matter what the contract says as it is a European health and safety matter, which (as I was led to believe by my tutors at uni!) 'trumps' UK law - hence the UK govt inserted the sign out clause which the EU didnt really approve of, but it was a way for UK employers to have staff working longer hours without breaching EU law.
However, I do believe that the directive must be explicitly referenced to and separately signed should the employee wish to remove him/herself from the 'protections' the directive affords. Where a contract refers to overtime and not the WTD, then the employee should consider him/herself within the directive with the option to work overtime as and when required (or as the contract states, as in my case!). If it were me, id look into this further as, even though the contract talks of overtime, the working time directive is superior law and overtime cannot be enforced over and above 48 weekly working hours (excluding unpaid rest breaks) without the opt out signed.
Just a thought anyway!

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 27/10/06 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
good morning old stylers
yeah :T , this is the first time ever i have started the daily thread. i am on inghts so have to stay awake!
plan today to sleep when i get home!!:rotfl:

Morning :hello:
I've been lying awake for the past hour, so I thought that I'd pop on here.
We got one of those charity bags through the door yesterday, in the past I've never had anything to put in it but I've decided to be ruthless! I've got rid of some clothes that I haven't worn for a while, mainly due to the fact that I can't fit in them anymore  And it's not because I'm too skinny. Plus I haven't worn some of them for a while just because. I can't believe I've been so wasteful, but hey ho..... I've sorted out a few books to go in as well, but I'm trying to battle with my conscience over whether I can part with my original copy of the Money Diet.
This weekend isn't going to be very OS as we're staying in Cheltenham tonight (Sat) and then going to a wedding near Oxford tomorrow. Because the wedding is on a Sunday, we'll have to leave early-ish to get back home so that I can have some decent rest before Monday's start back at school. It's a shame because I know that there'll be a good, cheesy disco but school beckons!
Better go for now. I've emptied the washing machine that was on overnight. Might be able to get another wash in before I go back to bed.
Vicky

I Hope everyone is well??0 -
Morning everyone
Here's another one who didn't sleep very well - I read for a while and have had breakfast already. Think I will return to my bed to see if I can get another hour or two.
My exhaust pipe...grrr it's going to cost me £170 to replace. The whole thing is rusty and needs replacing. It's not quite what I wanted to hear. The knock on effect is that I'll be spending less on my carpets. Unless the tree out the back suddenly starts to sprout tenners that is.
Plans for today are to get my exhaust done first thing, phone up lxdirect and whine because a discount code I had didn't go through (if they don't honour it I'm going to cancel my order...don't mess with me LXDirect!!!), go for a nice long walk - assuming the torrential rain stops for a while, cleaning of kitchen, washing of bed linen, and (sob) ironing of uniform for w*** on Monday.
Where is KiwiChick these days? And what colour is her hair...????
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.
