Hi, we'll be taking DS1 off the Hull this weekend.
He's already seen the Uni and accommodation (which is a nice en-suite), so we're not worried about that, and he's already made friends with some people who are in the same accommadation block as him (via student Forum and msm/facebook), so subsequently he's not worried at the prospect of leaving home at all.
It's me that's the problem. I've been in pieces all week and am dreading the thought of he leaving. I'll miss him so very much - he's a huge piece of my life.... DS2 is going to miss him loads too, so we've made a pact to jolly eachother along!!
Dropped my darling DD off at Hull on Sat too! She had a little wobble as we were helping her unpack but after a few tears (on both sides) she pulled herself together. I felt so proud of her as she trotted off with some others in the block to pick up her freshers band, she seems to be settling in fine, lots of texts and phone calls at the moment suppose that will inevitably tail off as she settles and i stop worrying (so much) though!0 -
My daughter has been at UNI since 18th September. I have a few days where I don't hear from her, then a couple of days where she is always ringing me saying how much she misses me and that she will probably come home before Christmas after all, as she misses us so much. She also has had 'Freshers' Flu' so has been not too well for a few days and has had to miss a couple of the parties. Her first day of lectures today.0

I actually drove back up to Lincoln on Friday after work to collect DS. It was the best thing we could have done. I got to see his room after he had made it more his own and was a lot more homely. Saw his flat mates again who seem to have accepted him for who he is rather than thinking he's a bit weird not wanting to party. He got to go with his girlfriend to take her to uni in Leicester on Saturday and he went back via coach and train on Sunday morning armed with fruit, steak and a whole cooked chicken! Whilst I shed a tear, it was a lone one and we both seem happier knowing that we're not a world away from each other.
Big hugs for all you other mums in the same situation.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
My daughter is off to uni next year and I have been reading all these with a tear in my eye. I feel for everyone of you, and I think i will tell my daughter she is not allowed to go into this big wide world lol. I am dreading it.0

My daughter has been texting me this morning, she wants to come home on Friday for the weekend lol...I thought she would have lasted longer without us, so looks like my other half will be picking her up straight after work0

well we might have to go and fetch ds2 this weekend
not becuase he is missing us- but because our beloved dog Freddy is very poorly and I think the time has come to take for one last trip to the vets........
and we promised ds2 that we would let him say goodbye before we took him - so we may be back up to liverpool this weekend!0 -

Love seeing this thread continue.
DD has now been gone for 9 days (yes, I'm counting) and this is now the longest I have ever gone without seeing her
.
I miss her dreadfully but she is having a lovely time and has met some great people. I still have to text once a day to make sure is is alive and tomorrow she has a day off so is goign to go into town and try and get some bar work 2 or 3 evenings a week (another one who didn't get the full loan, even though Birmingham is bl00dy expensive) to eek out her funds - hopefully this will also mean she's not drinking 7 nights a week :mad:0 -
Well this is DD1 second week and she is having a blast. She said Freshers week was awesome and her roomies are really nice. She had a fire drill this morning at 6am so she is not very happy and is already planning on a house share next year.I am a Dolphin Angel:A
