One thing that is down to the store is the checkout staff not noticing/ignoring mispriced stickers on games/DVDs etc.

I went in to one store an bought (among other things) 4 DS games, every one of them had the wrong sticker on it, the guy on the checkout didnt notice the first one but I'm almost positive he noticed the others as I saw him do a double take at the sticker and the till display then he looked at me (I just pretended to be in a daydream and looked out of the window) HE DIDNT SAY A DICKIE BIRD TO ME!

So how do you explain that one?

Did he just not like the look of me?

Couldnt be bothered with the hassle?

Told to ignore any overcharges he sees?

Whatever the answer, its not good, I felt like complaining about him but would then have shot myself in the foot RE the R&R (and wouldnt wanna do that for £80 worth of games) :rotfl:

Note I said "that is not all that is happening". I never said that stores didn't make mistakes. Stores do make mistakes. However, I see !!!!-ups by HO to be more serious, as then it becomes a nationwide issue. It's made worse when it's an on-going problem, like the console promotions, yet HO seems incapable of sorting it out.

    Come on, guys, PLEASE!

Please keep this thread on topic and useful, and the posts relevant to the subject!

I have just spent yet more time going through this thread and numerous posts have had to be removed again. These threads continue to veer off into arguments or sniping at each other and as said before, if they continue to take up too much time for the Forum team and the BGs (and they are!) then the tesco threads will be PERMANENTLY closed.

Please try and think of that, and how you all felt lost without the threads the other day, because already, after only a couple of days of being re-instated, they are on track for that very outcome becoming a reality....permanently!

    Thanks

Can't you see it's a few members coming here antagonising most users who don't abuse this thread to try and get it closed.Wouldn't surprise me if they were not just saddo's but members of tesco's someway or other. You know this is a popular thread and would be a big loss to MSE if it were to move to another site, looking at the number of views and posts about it.OK we agree with you but saying you don't have time blah blah blah everytime etc and it will be closed etc is not fare on all those that don't abuse the post but are still made to suffer through it's closure. If you are going to let a few spoil it for the majority then more fool you.Like you keep telling us you are a volunteer (that means you are free to leave anytime you wish)When someone comes and abuses it there aremembers who let the abuse team know or is it this that is causing the problem? We can't control these members either but you will make us all suffer just for them.Yes i know it is a private site etc etc etc .But without members what is it?

You keep threatening the ones that do care because of the ones that want to seeit closed and obviously don't care

  • A nice couple of stories for you today, neither of them turning out particularly well for me, but perhaps an indication of Tesco trying to get back at us (and the rest of the dirty rotten ethical sewage that shop with corrupt retail monopolies).

Found a DS poster for this week GOTW offer with FIFA 07. Poster still had the offer intact and when bought with the standard (non-lite) DS the discount was not triggered. Bargain (or so I thought!). The mistake I made was not waiting for the console to arrive from the lock-up before pointing out the error. They were really underhand and sneaky and said that, 'mysteriously', they had run out of stock. Not sure how this would play with HO (probably crap if yesterday is anything to go by), they refunded the whole amount and said they could not provide the goods. I still have the receipt. Any suggestions welcome as always ....

Second 'incident' today ... Saw an old offer for Scissor Sisters "Ta-da" with Chart CD/DVD for 6.77. Obviously this expired a long time ago. Took my chart DVD with Ta-da, guess what? The offer didn't work! Took to CS and this is where my battle began. Pondlife tried to make out the 'Std price 9.77' applied to the price that the CD/DVD had to be in order to trigger discount. Of course this was quickly disproved, but my intention was to try and get the 2 RnR'd. Several single-celled opinions later, and even involving the DM at HO, we only got as far as RnR for the CD.

As I was calling it quits for the day and the measly refund was swapping hands, the woman who gave me an xbox RnR in the same store invaded my personal space and starting blowing the whistle - 'Refuse him if he's abusing the policy!' 'I'm telling the manager!' 'Get his details, pass them to HO!' 'Alert! Battlestations! Lockdown!' Which is a shame because I quite liked her until then - hello if you're watching tonight - fancy a drink sometime? Come to my place - I've got sh*tloads of WKD to get through...

    Anyhow, I digress ....

Decided to leave at that point, can't think why now, but as I did the two door-neanderthals followed me, noting my registration and looking like they were ready to rip my head off. I think a ban was definitely on the cards in a similar fashion to taxiphil, but no-one with enough authority got close enough to actually say it.

    Ho hum.

    Question:

If I need to get a refund on my DS which I'm waiting on Head Office for, do you think I could get away with using it and having a go, then giving it back in its original packaging?! If anyone's seen them they havn't got a seal on them, so if I'm careful.....what do you all think?

If you are going to get a refund if you fail to get an R&R i wouldn't risk it.They know they have been stung for their mess up and are now looking for any excuse to get back at people. The only way around this if you do want to play with it is to take it back saying it's faulty for an exchange and then don't open the one they give you for the exchange then take it back for the refund ;)

Go for it - I've done it before. They never check em for refunds anyway (maybe just a routine glance to see if all is present).

cheers guys, nice one. It's packaged PERFECTLY to open you see, if I pristinely wiped it clean of thumb-marks I reckon I could just about get away with it. Maybe if I rush the CS into it etc.

    Questions,

    1) PabloMonkey - did you do this with a DS, or something else?

    2) Can you take anything back to any other Tesco store for a refund?

guess who now needs to look for Xbox 360 game RnRs?
    :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

Thought I'd missed the boat on this one, but did a little bit of travelling around the area and sure enough, there was a large yellow label on the console shelf

    "save £20...."

Took attempts of them trying £20 back, then to give me the game free before I got all my cash back.

No address wanted, no fuss, just a return of my cash and one very happy punter.

Customer service said if XBox is faulty then I can't exchange in store as they didn't sell it to me and if I had any problems I had to take it up with the manufacturer. Is this right?

No response yet from my travel insurance leaflet overcharge (didn't use CC today for XBox in case I became labelled a serial offender with HO) so am going to return the insurance tomorrow as you only get 14 days return period with that. Will laugh if I get a letter in the post on Monday with a cheque attached for the travel insurance refund.

Yes, it was a DS. It takes you through some setup stuff when you boot it for the first time - asks you for your birthday for some reason! Stick it back in the box, it'll be fine. They're not gonna go over it with a fine-toothed comb. "Is this your pubic hair stuck to the screen, sir?"

Nope, that is not right. Under the "If things don't add up" blurb, it says quite clearly:

Your Statutory Rights Are Not Affected.

In other words, if the thing is faulty or breaks within a certain time frame, you take it back to Tesco. Congrats on the Xbox. :D
