For anybody in any doubt about the extent of Tesco overcharging here below are just the posts taken from the misprice thread since 9.14pm yesterday.

Not a trivial amount I'm sure you will agree. Those that posted are the lucky/astute ones who noticed the overcharge, have a go at calculating just how many DIDN'T and were fleeced by their local caring sharing Tesco.

KP peanuts 300g + 20% free. Sel 94p, scan at 99p. This worked in 3 stores today, so guess it must be everywhere

cup a soup, Carrot and Corriander 4 pack didn't activate 2 for £1.40, R&R. Offer said 24/10/2006 but carrot one didn't have yellow SEL.

    PS2 Narnia stickered 2 for £25 or £13.97 each - scanned at £14.99
    PS2 Harry Potter stickered 2 for £25 or £13.97 each - scanned £14.99

The couple in front of me today were getting a refund on Bob The Builder toys. I dont have kids that age but had a quick shifty and they are on a buy two for £8 so I think that the multisave is perhaps not kicking in, as the refund was £11.?? I think!

Got dragged out to ikea bristol, thought I'd escape to T's next door instead. More willow farm chicken minifillets available SEL 2.49 pack 2.69, didn't take any tho.
In the CD section Wolfmother, The Kooks, The Automatic, Lily Allen, James Morrison + others all out of date SEL's and scan at 8.97. Only took Wolfmother, so get there quick.

Popped into my local Tesco Express to pick up a magazine for my 5yr as a treat today! Well it was certainly a treat, spotted Tesco Fresh British Beef Topside/Top Rump Joints SEL £5.XX per kg, Pack Price £6.48 per kg. Picked up last two in the chiller (obviously buying Sunday Roast for my large family, lol)! Supervisor did want to just refund the overcharge and gotthe calculator out to work it out. Pointed out the refund and retain policy on the counter, 'Oh Yes' she says!

    Full R&R - £16.96!

The annuals that are stickered at 2 for £8.00.I bought WWE and Superman and the discount didn't come off, charged full price so £9 odd refund and 2 annuals that the wee boy wanted anyway.

    Glucomax Glucosamine tablets, 1200mg. SEL £4.99 went through at £9.99. I got £19.98 R&R

My first ever R&R! Willow Farm Chicken Breast Mini Fillets: pack said £2.69 while a sign on the shelf said £2.49, got two packs and they went through the till at the higher price. Wandered over to Customer Services and they checked it out and gave me the full refund no questions asked! They did take the shelf sign off though. I'm very proud - my local store doesn't have a scanner so I can't check most of the tips and they seem very good with the labels usually.

Plucked up the courage to have a look last night as seem to be plenty of meat bargains around atm. Bagged 2 x Finest Sirloin Steaks @ £16.98 per kg SEL £14.48. CS said that I must have had the only 2 which were incorrectly priced, "How strange" I said :-). She then went on to refund me twice! I did query it but she said no, you get your money back and then refunded again for the inconvenience! So £10.73 spent, £21.46 refunded and some lovely steak for tea today.

Got my first R+R today. Tesco's finest kiwi fruit, £1.49 for a pack of 4 or 2 packs for £2.00. Went through at £2.98, went to CS, they tried the 98p refund but thanks to this site I said "shouldn't you give me the full amount?" full refund - thanks to everyone

Confirmed in 2 stores about 35 miles apart that the £20 discount applied for the Xbox360 Preium (£279.97) and Godfather Game as the "Game of the week" (£39.97) does not work. Fill your boots quick! :D

Finest British Beef Boneless Rib Roast SEL £7.98 £/kg Pack £7.99 £/kg

nothing to exciting but tescos multigrain hoops scanning at £1.34 but offer is for 99p i had got 2 boxes, cs took label off in tescos near me but someone else my get lucky.

    Two more DS games - Marioware - sticker 12.94 - scan 19.99
    Rayman DS - sticker 14.94 - scan 19.99

This is the second time I have had the same games from the same store!

know these have already been mentioned but i thought i would make people awair that there are still places to get them.

Boxes of Chocolate - Cadbury heros, Quality street etc (Exact one depend on store) Advertised at 2 for £5. Actually go through at 2 for £6. The stores i have been in have both signs up at the same time... IN THE SAME PLACE!!!

Got my 4 boxes for free and munching them as we speak...

Free range chickens SEL £3.19 - marked at £3.29
Pork loin chops SEL £4.78 - marked at £4.98
Finest beef topside SEL £7.78 - marked at £7.98

got 2 of each of the above if it helps anyone

Books - Chris Ryan Alpha force - Untouchable Sticker £3.97 went through at £4.97
Cathy Cassidy - Scarlett Stickered £3.73 scanned £3.97

If your tesco has a scanner its worth checking the £3.97/£3.73 books as some scan at £4.97 found Chris Ryan one like this.

    Got the Dividers already mentioned

Halloween stuff check the boxs - found disc shooter SEL 47p sticker on box 27p scanned 47p R & R no problem
Also Skeleton gloves £1.97 on gloves box price £1.47

A4 spiral bound notebooks in various colours ( hard cover )- purple, pink, grey, blue SEL £2.27 box price £1.97 had to insist on R & R applied to this, the manager confirmed so R & R given

    Meat
Willow farm chicken drumsticks & thighs SEL £2.39 pack price £3.19
Organic lamb mince SEL 2.49 pack price £2.59
Trad reared casserole steak SEL 6.49 pack kg 6.89
Trad reared diced braising steak SEL 6.99 pack kg price £7.29
Finest cubed steak SEL 7.47 pack price kg 7.97

    Also but I didnt get
finest stir fry beef SEL 7.47 pack price 7.97
Lamb chops SEL 8.98 pack price higher (cant remember

spent 97.00 got R & R of £65 so well pleased especially as not had much R & R luck recently (bit like buses you wait ages for one and they all come at once lol )

And remember we are not even talking about a full 24hr period here. The scope to create black profit is phenominal.

If you wan't to feel sorry for anyone feel sorry for those that walked away with an overpriced BARGAIN!
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

This is the line I would like to point out above all others...

Now obviously there was stuff that was bought with R&R in mind but that list all sounded like stuff people would get on a weekly shop, £65 of £97 was refunded therefore overcharged!

That is a hell of a lot of overcharged goods

Now just think how many people go through all of the tescos in the country doing their weekly shop and dont notice the overcharge or do notice it and cant be bothered as "its only 10p" or whatever (and dont know about the policy)

I think tescos obviously listen to their own "every little helps" slogan too much, 5p here, 10p there, on the hundreds of thousands of people it gets through its doors every day.

As I said before, even if the losses on the console fiasco did come to £750,000 they would soon recoup that if they havent already!

I dont feel the slightest bit guilty when getting an R&R and neither should anyone else!

(Standing on a soapbox makes your feet smell good!)
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • Hi guys,

I for one have already joined in with the R&R, I bought some meat the other day where the price was different on the SEL to the product. It's a good service tesco's offer. BUT....

Alot of people are making out that Tesco's are really bad for overcharging people. From working in a supermarket for 5 years before getting a proper job, all that is happening is someone is forgetting to change the SEL. They are not setting out to overcharge you on purpose!! It's just someone who is on minimum wage in the store can't be bothered to go changing the millions of SEL's they have in the store and keep them all up to date!

It's an impossible task to have SEL's all up to date with the ever changing prices. People are then making out tesco to be criminal for overcharing customers......again it's just a silly SEL thats out of date, there not doing it on purpose!

By the way, before any of you ask, I worked for ASDA for 5 years not Tesco, however I think the Tesco's R&R scheme is fantastic however some people might be abusing it a bit too much (hense you get banned!!). However spotting misprices is only helping them as they should be changing them as soon as the customer spots them.

I for one at ASDA would remove the SEL if the customer took me back to the product point out the difference, just saying "sorry we are updating them at present" and throw it away! :D Then the customer would get really ratty and it would be funny telling them there not getting it for that price. Obviously tesco's have a much fairer policy!

    Come on, guys, PLEASE!

Please keep this thread on topic and useful, and the posts relevant to the subject!

I have just spent yet more time going through this thread and numerous posts have had to be removed again. These threads continue to veer off into arguments or sniping at each other and as said before, if they continue to take up too much time for the Forum team and the BGs (and they are!) then the tesco threads will be PERMANENTLY closed.

Please try and think of that, and how you all felt lost without the threads the other day, because already, after only a couple of days of being re-instated, they are on track for that very outcome becoming a reality....permanently!

    Thanks

James, that is not all that is happening to cause an overcharge. If only it were as simple as that. However, it is not. Offers are being made, yet the discounts are not coming off at the till. That is not down to the store. Posters are being printed with incorrect information on them relating to offers. Due to the misleading information on the posters, people are being overcharged. Again, this is not down to the store. HO and CS have known for weeks about the problems with the console offers, yet have not stopped the promotions. A lot of errors now are down to tills not being programmed to take the discount off items up for offer. This isn't down to the store, either.

One thing that is down to the store is the checkout staff not noticing/ignoring mispriced stickers on games/DVDs etc.

I went in to one store an bought (among other things) 4 DS games, every one of them had the wrong sticker on it, the guy on the checkout didnt notice the first one but I'm almost positive he noticed the others as I saw him do a double take at the sticker and the till display then he looked at me (I just pretended to be in a daydream and looked out of the window) HE DIDNT SAY A DICKIE BIRD TO ME!

So how do you explain that one?

Did he just not like the look of me?

Couldnt be bothered with the hassle?

Told to ignore any overcharges he sees?

Whatever the answer, its not good, I felt like complaining about him but would then have shot myself in the foot RE the R&R (and wouldnt wanna do that for £80 worth of games) :rotfl:

Yes, there is a loophole where some Tesco stores have forgotten to take down an old poster, and yes, you can then go and exploit it.
The loophole being that Tesco are breaking the law. If I broke the law I GUARANTEE Mr Plod would drop on me like a ton of bricks, but TS don't drop on Tesco because of their R&R policy.
However Tesco now decide that customers who exercise this right to R&R are criminals (quite ironic really?!).
I think it's time to start making formal complaints to TS and asking for them to be followed up properly, with court action if necessary.
