Been away for a couple of days and only just catching up on all the recent posts .... phew!

Anyway, just thought I'd mention that a store near me has a bulk purchase policy of 6, but then has a sign beneath their "If things don't add up" sign to say that the bulk refund/overcharge policy is one item!!!

I've never tested this so I don't know if it's actually enforced.

I had cause to be stood at cs desk for a while yesterday, and noticed a bulk buying policy notice which said they would only allow you to buy 10 items, or only 2 non-food. Does this mean till staff have been trained to stop you buying more than 2 packs of batteries, boxes of tissues, packs of loo roll ? or will the till automatically refuse to accept the third non-food item ?
    I don't think so. :naughty:
This is clearly Tescos attempt at damage limitation
Surely if they SELL you 4 christmas annuals - say All Star Wars, and they overcharge you on all 4, they should refund on all 4 ?

    Interesting development

Re Taxiphil - I am DEFINITELY not going to try for a console/bundle now. The most I've had is dvds/cds/books, and I think I will try and stay under their radar, and out of sight of HO.

It has made me quite nervous - which is exactly what KK presumably wanted. Tesco monitor this site, know Taxiphil posts on here. It wouldn't take a brain surgeon to tie in Taxiphil with the details of someone well known by HO for getting high value R&R. They will know he has written to tell us all what has happened, and to shake us all up a bit.
It will put off the new R&R'ers, and I will certainly keep a low profile from now on, but Tesco/KK have missed out a couple of valuable points in their calculations.
    1) If we all shop at Tescos, statistically it will not be long before we are overcharged by Tescos - even if we are not looking for R&Rs. Given that we all know THEIR policy, we will still know we are entitled to a full R&R, and go to cs to get one. It won't necessarily be the high value consoles/bundles etc. But we will still get money back from Tescos
    2) The bad publicity will surely only highlight the reasons for all the fuss -
a)TESCO consistently and deliberately overcharging their customer every single day
b)TESCO advertising a R&R policy, but not honouring it when their overcharging activities are discovered.
    3) We are now hooked. I automatocally glance over the yellow sels NOW to see the end by date. Never even thought about the significance of the colour 6 months ago  I don't know if I could stop even though I have been given a fright........can I get a patch to break my addiction ? :p
  • Taxiphil, I'm really sorry that they seem to be making an example of you in front of us.
I'd imagine that you would still be able to go into most Tesco stores and buy as much shopping as you desire and not be challenged in any way, but as soon as you step up to the CS desk and ask for a refund, alarm bells will start ringing and then you'll be manhandled out of the store like a criminal.

This happened to me with the annuals. Was told that I could only have a refund on one item per misprice ! Went along with it as I didn't want to appear on their 'most wanted' page of the Tesco Canteen Newsletter !!!

I've only just today decided to try this R&R (sounds like I've started just as Tesco are cracking down). I wrote a list of deals and took them to Tesco, I found all of them but one now had the higher price advertised.

That item was some stationary. The SEL had £1.97, however it was in a box with £1.96 on it, I was charged £1.97 at the checkout. I took it to Customer Services. The woman looked at me like I was a criminal when I told her I'd been overcharged 1p. She had me walk to the item and show her.

She then walked back to the desk and handed me a penny and said "that's that sorted".

Being my first time I admited defeat as I had nothing to back up my claim. I did whilst walking out notice the little sticker on the door with their R&R policy so I went to the desk and asked why she wasn't giving me a full refund. She sounded very sharp and said "Well it was actually priced correctly but I will give you your money back".

I got my free stationary but the CS woman wasn't a bit nice to me. :D

Strangely enough no offers advertised AT ALL at my local for PS2, X-Box or PSP - not even the 2 for £25 PS2 offer. Is this offer national or simply at the manager's discretion as it seems a bit odd that if they don't advertise the offer you have no chance of R&R!

I've just seen this, and i for one am absolutely disgusted at Tesco doing this to you. Perhaps if they didn't overcharge so many of their customers in the first place they wouldn't have introduced the R&R policy.

And as for taking all your partner's points, and voiding all the vouchers you've been saving up..well, that's just downright pettiness.

I've been bullied and intimidated myself by a duty manager, and i ended up leaving the store in tears, and that was only over an overcharge on a book for God's sake!! I'm still waiting to hear from HO about my complaint.....they're obviously not the best at keeping the customer happy are they?

I wish you all the very best, Taxiphil, with whatever action you decide to take

I'm not an expert at this obviously. But, I think if you're going for many R&Rs you should only ever pay cash and never use a clubcard. You're giving them an easy way to track you and with a clubcard or Tesco credit card they also know exactly who you are.

[Plucked up the courage to have a look last night as seem to be plenty of meat bargains around atm. Bagged 2 x Finest Sirloin Steaks @ £16.98 per kg SEL £14.48. CS said that I must have had the only 2 which were incorrectly priced, "How strange" I said :-). She then went on to refund me twice! I did query it but she said no, you get your money back and then refunded again for the inconvenience! So £10.73 spent, £21.46 refunded and some lovely steak for tea today.]

Its come to something hasn't it when the CS staff don't even know their own R&R policy :rotfl:

But well done sueh6 bet you couldn't wipe the silly grin off your face as you were leaving :D
