Right first time! And yet ANOTHER reason why I have so little respect for Tesco! £7.49 for 6x 330ml Carlsberg Export???????? (Ricky Gervais voice) Are they 'aving a laugh??? Talk about putting the price up so that a BOGOF can be applied. Disgusting.

I saw that today, too. Mentioned it to my OH that the price was exorbitant. The same can be said of the games offer that went wrong. Operation is on sale for £8.99 in Woolies. It looks like Tesco meant to put the prices up across the range of games that were to be included in the BOGOF offer before the offer started. However, someone cocked it up, hence the £6-7ish price per game, but the discount coming off at £9.97. It shows me that Tesco inflate the price on certain items when they go on offer. Thus, the offer isn't really BOGOF, as you're being charged more than the usual selling price charged by Tesco for the products.

    Hope that makes sense.

When I worked for another supermarket chain we changed the increase prices first, when all the increase price tickets were up we then applied the increases on the stores computer. The decrease prices and offers were applied on the computer/till system before the decrease / offer tickets went up on the shelves. This way the customer was not charged more than the shelf ticket. Obviously with any store/chain there are mistakes made but only Tescos offer r&r.

Shhhhh...don't give Tesco any hints on how to do it properly :D . Seriously, how much could Tesco make if they knew their @rse from their elbow? I reckon even old Sam Walton would be worried (if he hadn't left this mortal coil)
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • I bought a fugifilm camera today advertised at 199.99 but was charged 219.99 as the shelf label expired on the 10th oct. Went to customer services and was only offered the 20 pounds back, who would be the best person to contact and am i right that i should get the camera for free even though the label was out of date???

You will struggle as SEL clearly states offer expiry date, doubtful that CS in Dundee will support you.

    good luck though

Yes, you are right, but you should have insisted there and then on your money back. Since you've left the store, it really is a case of your word against theirs now, unless you got somebody to write down what the SEL was displaying and sign it?.

Hope you at least remember who you spoke to,

    Good luck!

Yes ring CS. It should be free you were overcharged. Normal R&R policy. should prevail. Did you accept the £20 ?

I would disagree with this. The offer expiry date is not relevant. It is down to the retailer to remove out of date POS and SELs. They cannot charge a higher price than that indicated on the shelf. One more thing to point out: if HO, CS, etc, come up with "Offer's out of date" as an excuse for not giving a full refund, remind them that in many stores, if an offer is extended, the SEL remains in place with an expired date on it. Thus, it is no longer reasonable to expect an offer to end when the SEL says it will. See the current promotions in the BW&S section to see what I mean.

Contact the store and ask to speak to a manager. That would be your first port of call. If you get no luck with the manager, contact CS in Dundee. Some duty managers won't authorise that sort of refund, as they really don't want to take the flack if they get it wrong. Better to talk to a more senior manager. I had this over an expensive item ages ago. Duty manager wouldn't authorise it due to it being "too much money", but said I can wait to see the more senior manager. Saw him and he authorised it immediately.
