All this talk of the expiry date is clearly visible, only if you know about sels and such like after all that date could be the date the offer started for all we knowReal men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0

Sounds good to me, but there won't be any cameras with a misprice sel in my local tesco, too many r&rs around here.0 -

The expiry date cannot be used as an arguement for overcharging.{If it could we would all be looking at 1970 price tags and paying 2006 prices everywhere} That's not to say it won't by the undeducated it's up to you to stand your ground without losing the moral highground at the same time.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
My take on this is if they wanted the expiry date to be important to the customer, it would be in the same size print as the price. It isn't, game on. It's a MISLEADING PRICE LABEL, simple as, and the ONLY reason HO are getting arsey about OOD SELs is due to the massive hit they've taken of late.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

You do indeed have a good point here. From being an occasional r&r-er, I've had four nice and pleasant refunds over the last couple of days. I was so laid back on the last one that, because of the helpful attitude of the CS lady, I didn't even bother accompanying her to find the shelf ticket.
Things have definitely changed for the better. I'll see if the improvement lasts until I go Tescoing again next week.0 -
Recently, the CSAs I've dealt with haven't even bothered to check the SELs on the items I've been overcharged on. They just give me my money back. Weird, eh?In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

My last word on this
Sometimes you just have to know when to walk away
Surely now that bans are being lifted, and precedents have been set....it is now time to "stand your ground"......Dates are for Tescos staff.....not for customers.Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I posted a query similar to this (expired SELs) a couple of days ago but I think it sunk under other topics.
What I'd like to ask is how best to deal with this type of refusal from CS. As everyone knows a yellow SEL has the following info on it.
1. Original price crossed out (in a tiny font)
2. Statement 'offer expires xx/xx/xx (in a really, really tiny font)
3. Offer price ( In a very big font)
I'd expect the CS to argue that, in effect the SEL says that after the expiry date the offer price expires and the old price (shown on the ticket, even tho it's crossed out) comes back into force.
What's the best comeback?0
