Can I just check this out as my brain hurts now from reading all these threads in the last week.

If i see a store where the current GOTW is white stickered and not yellow (indicating discount should be applied) and the posters are correct - showing this as the GOTW
    then...

I buy a console with this ... discount should not be applied and then I should get a full R+R if I push it ?

Correct, but be prepared that it might not work. Each store is different in my humble experience. I tried 3 stores today and they didn't have any GITW posters up at all but struck gold agin with the fourth one and got another wireless 360.

Your not going to believe this.

I just got another wireless xbox!!

GOTW poster with The Godfather. Didn't even look at the date of the poster I'm afraid because the SEL for the game was white, so I took a guess that it wouldn't come off.

Prices were the same as always.

Full R&R with apologies and the manager just said to the CS lady, "Can you just give this gentleman a full refund for everything on his receipt", which included 2 pks of biscuits, 2 Apple turnovers and a bottle of coke!!! I did a deal with him about the gotw as I wanted Project Gotham Racing instead of The Godfather. He said no problem!!

Full R&R for £362.18, 360 points on another new card, 5p off petrol voucher, free lunch and a partridge in a pear tree.

The sun shines on the righteous apparently!!

mcdongag... WELL DONE MATE. Do you just go straight to CS after you buy the xbox, or do you need to phone Head Office etc???

I have never R&R'd.... wondering if its a case of just goin up to the counter or if you have to phone up head office etc??

    Thanks, Iain.
     R&R since 1/12/06 = £549 :D :shhh:
  • Blinkin Blimey, are the only stores that have taken down the £10 off deal poster, in Cardiff? Everyone else, it seems, are still being super lucky!

All the posters for GOTW are up, but no combo deal!! Oh poo, and now OH has come in and he's working overtime tomorrow, I have to go back to Mr T's to get some lunch box goodies! So I'm gonna have to walk past that game display again with dissapointment all over my chops!

GRRR gonna have to get some more meat to clam myself!
    be calm Deedee, be calm.

    surely you'd get it?

It's not your fault the out of date SEL is still up, it's their responsibility to make sure their promo literature is in date, not yours.

Q1. I was charged a different price for an item at the till to the one that was shown on the shelf, what are my rights?

The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence for a trader to give a consumer misleading price indications. In the first instance speak to the trader about the differing prices, if you are not satisfied with the response, contact your local authority trading standards department who enforce the Act and who could bring a prosecution against the trader.

So i guess by this statement on the http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/Fact%20Sheets/page24699.html website.

Am I right in thinking that if you are not happy with the response you get (your not getting an r+r) then because they actually overcharged you, which is also an offence, and gave a misleading price indication (leaving an out of date sel on display) which is an offence...

I would say that you have a pretty good case to go to your local trading standards who will act on your behalf and enforce the 1987 act.

might be worth pointing this out to CS if refused....

    anyone???

I've just been to "Leyland Extra" had three packs of overpriced steak, two about £4 and one about £7

The CS woman sulked and tannoyed the manager. When he arrived he told me that "because of their bulk purchase policy, they would refund two packets in full and refund only the difference on the third" I queried this bulk purchase policy and he pointed to a printed notice stuck to the board beneath the "If things dont add up" sign.

    the notice read
    "BULK PURCHASE POLICY
In the interests of all customers, some products are limited to 2 items per customer."

The manager left the desk and I asked the CS woman, if that meant that I'm not allowed to buy three packets of crisps anymore? She said "No it only means refunds". "So you'll sell three items at the higher price, but you won't refund them" I asked sarcastically, to which she replied "yes, but you'll be refunded the difference on the others" ! Surely it should not be a bulk purchase policy, but instead a bulk REFUND policy???

After I agreed to a 2 from 3 refund, they then got a folder out titled "REFUND CUSTOMER TRACKING SHEETS", and wrote down my name and my visa card number (it doubles as my clubcard) as well at the refund value, barcode and reason.

Bear in mind that I was only querying 3 single steaks with a total value of about £15 not a major refund. It was a bit over the top don't you think. On top of that the CS woman said that they would refund the two £4 steaks and give me the difference on the £7 one. I started to kick up a fuss and she did eventually refund me £11.

Has anyone else seen a similar notice go up recently on the wall behind the desk in other stores or is it just Leyland taking matters into their own hands?

I'd get down there right away and buy the 360 + Just Cause. The £20 discount shouldn't come off. If for some reason it does, you can always say you left your money in your car and they can void the transaction.
NO, dont do that. Buy it then get a refund. You keep the points that way and the 5p petrol voucher and the sports for schools vouchers and the good feeling that you have stuffed em again and the, and the..............
