jango wrote:today i tried my first r+r. went to teco deysbrook barracks in liverpool. bought a nintendo ds + game of the week which was lego star wars 2. they had a poster up saying £10 off when you buy. discount did not come off went to c.s and they offered me the game for free, after about 15 mins of explanation. i was told to take it up with head office. a member of staff not c.s told me to speak to kevin kelly. so i phoned him when i got home he told me that it is an expired offer. and although the poster was still up in the store that the did not have to honer it. he offered me the £10 difference for the discount that didnt come off as a gesture of good will, in the form of a tesco voucher. he was adamant that i was not getting a full r+r for the purchase. oh yes forgot to mention the poster stated that the offer was for week commencing the 22/09/06. i even tried saying that the offer should still be on then as 22 + 7 days = 29. today being the 29/09/06. but no chance . gonna take it back to another store for a full refund..In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

This from Joanne Leith of all people! GOTW Poster was there plain as day; the furthest they will go is R&R on game, but say that they will take the console back.jango wrote:i was told to take it up with head office. a member of staff not c.s told me to speak to kevin kelly. so i phoned him when i got home he told me that it is an expired offer. and although the poster was still up in the store that the did not have to honer it. he offered me the £10 difference for the discount that didnt come off as a gesture of good will, in the form of a tesco voucher. he was adamant that i was not getting a full r+r for the purchase.
Something has suddenly changed.
Kevin Kelly and Joanne Leith have done a U-turn and are now trying to wriggle out, just like their store managers.
So even Head Office are refusing to honour their own policy. This is a first, isn't it?
I just can't understand why they've said yes to some people and no to other people, seemingly on the same day and on identical R+R cases.0 -
The GOTW posters dont have an expiry date on them do they? just the "week commencing"
All these new refusals at R&R on the basis its an expired offer should be forwarded to trading standards/consumer direct.
Thats what I would do if I got denied the full R&R
Like you said 22 + 7 = 29th
Fight it all the way, if trading standards get enough of these complaints (and they should) they will whip Tescos butt for it! :TMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I would ask em for a decision in writting first. Send them a letter and an email. They have overcharged you by the looks of things and that isn't on at all.0

Current directors:
Sir Terry Leahy, Chief Executive (48 years old)

And that was in 2004!

I wonder if he sends his family out to do a bit of R&R!! Like most rich men I know, they are all a bit tight!! LOL
"You want steak tonight Mrs Leahy? well pop off down the shop, and see what you can get for free"Sig ah Sig Ahhh0 -

Agreed. If you could get a letter/e-mail off them stating "we don't have to honour the price on display" (or similar words to that effect), it would be highly incriminating, and Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority would make absolute f***ing mincemeat out of them.0 -

Don't you think those letters would be checked first by their legal dept0 -

knodrmid is dead right. I would simply email Kevin giving him the full facts of the transaction. Say that you are confused by his answer that the offer was out of date as it didn't have an expiry date on it.
Ask him to clarify the situation as you feel let down by Tesco.
He is a most reasonable and understanding chap, from what I've read, and this is about the first r&r he's refused if memory serves.
Good luck0
