Hi, could someone clarify for me, If a SA has put the wrong items in the wrong place on the shelves, with different POS in front, does this class as been overcharged?
I know the description would be different, but how many shoppers just look at the price and chuck it in their trolley and then get overcharged?
    Thanks

I think you would be very lucky to get this as an R&R.

For instance, on meat R&Rs the CS staff will often vainly search for a correct SEL - both in and near the vicinity of the mis-price.

Probably only worth a punt if you really want the item and want to make a fuss......

  • OK first post here from a newbie so be gentle with me. I would love to go for the R&R as I think it is a fab policy and using it to advantage is not abuse of Tesco. However, I also work for Mr Tesco and am not sure how I would stand if I went to R&R something. Is anyone else in this situation? Or should I ignore the guilt and just go for it?

I think you could get into trouble for using the R&R policy. I know Tesco employees who do use the policy, but never in their own store. Using it could lead to accusations of having purposely left up SELs, POS, etc, in order to get a refund.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

I have often thought How I would go about R&R if I was a Tesco employee! I don't think I would risk it in the store I worked, but would look out for them in another one;)
I would have thought it would be fine to do the MB game glitch though;)

I can see your point but the standard pack price is 94p on a white SEL so dont see as its a promotion. In fact, just been in a different store that has the peanuts on a yellow SEL with the price of 99p and the description actually says "20% extra free" on the SEL!!
That just seems to confirm it for me that when they see the product come in with the 20% free on it they just think of a "promotion" where they just charge a bit more meaning the 20% isnt actually free at all!

At the store where I got mine, the 94p SEL was yellow indicating a promotional price (who'd have thought it would be different in each store  ). Internet price on standard pack is 99p, so I think that is standard Tesco price.

I think I'll be keeping an eye open for these 'extra free' products, as if another promotion follows on standard size products there is potential for a misprice on previous stock because of the different barcode. ;)

I would advise doing the R&R shopping in another store, and always pay in cash so they cannot trace you through the clubcard or banking details. That way Mr T should leave you alone.

Its weird how prices seem to be different in different stores (and online) all the stores I've been in this weekend (thats 8 stores) have/had a white SEL saying 94p apart from one store that had the yellow 99p one!
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • Re Peanut saga

I got mine in Bedford on Friday - they had both yellow sel's up, both with 20% free clearly marked, one with 94p on and another larger Sel partially covering it with 99p on. Whoever put the larger one over the front couldn't fail to see the other sel so I would have thought this was an obvious intent to mislead.

Since the CS didn't even bother to check my tale lots of others must have got scammed over the weekend.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised really. For years, my mum has said that her nearest Tesco (which has no big competition within an 8 mile radius) was more expensive than the next nearest one where there is plenty of competition  . Many of her friends avoided it for that reason.
