If the receipt has a transaction number, which they would enter into the till to process the refund, it *could* flag it up as already been refunded.

Not too sure if Tescos do, but seeing they've got billions of pounds to spend each year i'd expect their Loss Prevention department at head office would have something similar to this set up..

Let us know how you get on, or if you dont get a reply i'll assume you're in a cell!

i was really enjoying reading this thread, but it seems more than a couple of people are now indeed taking the pee.

how can getting something for free and then trying to get a refund because "the receipt wasnt marked as an r&r" be anything other than dishonest or even fraudulent? and why are people going back to tesco's with "carboot full of anuals" for refunds on stuff that went through the tills "correctly"?

surely this is just as bad as people "messing with SEL's" who are in fact commiting fraud and therefor are criminals.

everyone is giving Tesco a good kicking and rightly so for over pricing, i myself plan a 2 superstore shopping trip shortly in the search for my 1st R&R. but come on guys, keep it real!! or we will very soon to turned into the bad guys for just cause.

dont give the big boys the ammo they need
  • Around 18% is the average for stores which have them installed.

    Thanks for the figures.

So on average 82% of people don't use the machines. Not surprising that the jobcuts haven't started yet then..

I encountered all the phones on sale at the display along with the 10% poster. I tried one model (can't remember...sale price 45.99) and one L6 (new sale price 53.99). The other model had a 'priced to clear' SEL and the L6 just had the yellow SEL. After 2 CS bods and 2 managers and a phone call to someone in charge of the store pricing, I got the L6 refunded. They wouldn't budge on the 'priced to clear' one but agreed with me that the L6 definitely looked like there should have been an additional 10% taken off. Look closely, there was one model with 'introductory offer' on the SEL, that was what I leveraged with....the poster does have the line 10% discount already taken on all introductory offer phones, no further discount applies. Tried 2 other stores and the CS people wouldn't budge at all, said all prices are 10% + sales prices.

Hi guys I am new to this website so please bear with me if this question seems a bit dumb..

I am really intrigued by this R+R policy with Tesco, but am a bit puzzled about what the best method to go about getting this is.

Should I be looking for items that have been reduced on the shelves (so like, they might have been reduced from £5 to £3.99 or something) and then they don't show the lower price on the checkout? How am I to know what will and won't work? I've read loads about how you guys pick up free toasters, DVDs.. the lot - but I am confused as to how you find the mispriced items.

Do you have to go on the self service checkouts? I'd really be interested in doing this, being a student and all, but like I said, I am confused!

Oh, and I have read loads of threads on this website but can't find an explanation, so hence this post!

    Many thanks.

Edit: ukpogg, does that mean you got a full refund on the phone and got to keep then phone itself? So in effect you could find the mispriced item, pick up 20 of them, scan them through, take the receipt to the customer service desk, where they are always obliged to allow you to keep the item and they will give you a full refund no questions asked?

    This is great!

At my local Tesco's they still have the Samsung E350i's at £99.99 but on a yellow ticket (but marked discontinued) - I am new to this game, does a yellow ticket count? What is the difference. If I am likely to get the R&R I will pick up in the early morning.
If I turn up later to confront them on R&R and they refuse, can I get a refund anyway by returning them (unopened by me)?

Well returned this morning to find a big yellow sticker showing "reduced to clear"...note the change in status. However I did also notice that this phone had a white price sticker on the shelf underneath the big yellow one with no mention that it was an offer of any sort. Where do I stand if I argue that the presence of the white sticker with no offer / reduction information on it shows that this is not a "reduced to clear" iterm as the big dangly yellow sticker indicates. Also, what is Tesco's policy on white / yellow stickers and both being on an item?

Be VERY Careful.....I would NOT recommend doing this....it really is Theft & Deception !!
Ahh...that's actually a grey area. Can you find a case to back that up? You see, by getting a refund, Tesco takes the item back into stock to sell on to someone else. Thus, Tesco has not suffered a loss as a result of your actions.

Morally, it's down to the individual. I'm not so certain it's illegal.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Dont know much about laws etc . . . All your doing is getting free money at the double all the time, which i dont think is a very lawful thing to do. Think of it like this if you had a shop and people done that to you, how would you feel ?. Tesco is big big big company, but that dont mean if theyre profiting in big numbers, that you can skank them left right and center. I bet tescos lose millions due to people doing stuff like that and other (fraud on petrol pumps and self scan machines) nawty things. Keep to your limits as it always comes back to you ;) . Ive never done anything bad at Tesco's so my conscious is clear lol

Would still love to get my hands on a console though lol :rotfl:
