Tesco usually ask for name & address but didnt when I got R+R on these Doritos today, is that because there was Clubcard details on the receipt?0

Constantine wrote:This has been discussed before. It is in common with a number of other retailers. It is to ensure that the CSD staff are not making up refunds to stuff in their pockets. A simplistic measure, but designed to remove temptation from otherwise honest staff.
Whilst I accept your explanation, if you think about this it's frankly just a little silly! Scenario: Dodgy CS bod gets mate to come in and buy Motorola L6, discount doesn't come off, he trundles to CS where he (eventually!) gets full refund (maybe from manager). Dodgy CS bod then asks for his name and address. Do I need to go on? :rolleyes:I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

Went on a mission to try and return the boot load of annuals that I seem to be collecting
Went to the first store and returned the Blue Peter and PowerRangers annuals which DIDN'T qualify for R&R when I purchased them from this store last week. Was amazed to find that CS were having trouble taking the discount off to refund me ?!?!? The surprisingly good natured Battle Witch of usual had quite a good laugh trying to wangle the system to give me the correct monies !
So, refund in hand I whispered to the son to go and get the same annuals as the discount didn't come off at the CS till and this time we should be in luck !!!
Put a few other items in the basket and went off to the tills... Can you believe it ? The discount came off !!! Aaaarrrggghhhh !!!!
Now, I can't understand it ? The only thing I can think of is that you have to put the annuals through the tills in a particular order ? In this case, the PowerRanger annual BEFORE the Blue Peter one ?!?!
So off to another store to try my new theory.... and the discount came off again !!!!
Came back with more in the boot than I went out with, lol !!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
you made my evening arushofblood - I've got a boot-load full of annuals too - suggest we all do a swap with each other!!! Any one for Noddy?0 -

I did say it was simplistic. What other barrier can you put in plce to try and keep people honest?
Excuse me Mr. Clasics, before I give you your cash can I just take a DNA sample so I can prove you exist?
If a CSA was under investigation, one of the things that would be looked at is refunds.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Does this mean that you can return the children to the CSA? LOLDon't waste your words I don't need,
Anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or,
What you plan to do.0 -
Constantine wrote:No, less people would. The pack price is not the issue - the lower SEL price is. Remove the SEL and you remove the overcharge.
The SELs on catchweight products aren't removed for marketing reasons.
Some smart bod in the marketing department (I'm assuming it's done centrally rather than in store as HO will have access to more sales information than in store) will spend their day working out which products have to go where to maximise sales, contribution (some products with a higher cost will give the store more profit in pounds) and to take account of any special offers that are running.
They will then send a template to a store on how to display those lovely Willow Farm chicken pieces, so that customers look at the fancy packaging, see the pic of the nice farmer and pay the premium. Look at the eye level shelves next time you're there - 99% of the time it's either premium stuff or the stuff with the high margins.
Anyway, without the SELs the average shelf stacker will probably just bung in a load of meat onto any old shelf without particularly caring.
Let's face it - CS staff spend long enough looking at the SELs when we ask for R&R, and saying it's not the same product so they know how interested the shelf stackers are
That's why the SELs will stay - Tesco are sharp enough to know that however much we take in R&R they will more than make up in smart marketing.
That's why they have more than £1 billion profit.0 -
which aisle were the children in - is it seasonal goods???? - sure easier than birth !!!!LOL0

Absolutly correct. Your average Tesco is space planned to within an inch of its life.
That, however, was not the point. It was not about removing the SELS (that would not work for the reasons you described), but the removing of the price from the SEL. As it appears Asda and Morrisons do.
Edit - realised my wording was bad originally - meant the price, not the actual whole labelWho or what was I before you came in to my life
