Well surprise, surprise head office didn't phone me back about being overcharged on the Motorola L6, but I have managed to get hold of the lets talk mag and a 10% off leaflet. Waiting to see if they phone tomorrow, will they take the phone back for a refund she broke the seal to check the contents when she sold it?0

Recently some of us have been accused of grossly exaggerating the amount of overcharging that Tesco commits.
I thought it might be interesting to use the new Freedom of Information Act to ask Trading Standards to disclose how many complaints they've received about Tesco, and how many times their officers have gone into stores to investigate.
This might also shed some light on whether Trading Standards are giving Tesco a bit of an easy ride, which is certainly a major concern I have. I mean, I know they might be overstretched, but it seems a bit odd that Tesco get prosecuted so rarely when any of us on this forum can walk into practically any Tesco store on any day and catch them breaking the law.
I'm not sure if the information is held on file at a national level, or if it's a case of individually contacting each TS office. If it's the latter, I could start with a few counties and this might help to build a picture.
Any thoughts on this anyone?0 -

Good luck.

Tesco - in common with most national retailers - is covered by one TS office (I believe it is the Hertfordshire/Cheshunt one) and your local TS will liase with them.
It could be the Due Dilligence defence that is stopping you from seeing the TS action you believe there should be.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Had some fun with my young lad tonight ( look and learn kid
).
Went on a mission to try and return the boot load of annuals that I seem to be collecting
Went to the first store and returned the Blue Peter and PowerRangers annuals which DIDN'T qualify for R&R when I purchased them from this store last week. Was amazed to find that CS were having trouble taking the discount off to refund me ?!?!? The surprisingly good natured Battle Witch of usual had quite a good laugh trying to wangle the system to give me the correct monies !
So, refund in hand I whispered to the son to go and get the same annuals as the discount didn't come off at the CS till and this time we should be in luck !!!
Put a few other items in the basket and went off to the tills... Can you believe it ? The discount came off !!! Aaaarrrggghhhh !!!!
Now, I can't understand it ? The only thing I can think of is that you have to put the annuals through the tills in a particular order ? In this case, the PowerRanger annual BEFORE the Blue Peter one ?!?!
So off to another store to try my new theory.... and the discount came off again !!!!
Came back with more in the boot than I went out with, lol !!!!0 -

Many thanks for that info Constantine. Looks like getting the stats could be a lot simpler than I first thought.0 -

Both the store staff I spoke to today lied and even contradicted the other's lies. But on other occasions I have had r&rs with no fuss so it is 'some'.
Constantine - What do you make of the new problems with 10% off mobiles?0 -
dh did his first RnR this evening on the only mobile phone in the shop! it was an Lg B2100 on virgin priced at £37.49 white SEL only one apart from the L6 mentioned above which was sold out!! went through checkout but 10% didnt come off - Full RnR - after manager tried to give only the 10% back but dh pointed out he.d already been overcharged etc... - manager knew his stuff!!
they took SEL off straight away apparently the phone had been reduced but not on the SEL (took photo of SEL and poster too!) and the small print of the offer says if a phone has already been discounted it is excluded from 10% etc.. very misleading advertising -
he took my dh name and address is that right????????0 -

When I think of store staff, I don't think of you or Spa2k, Constantine. Take that as a compliment.
It is true that not all store staff do this, but a lot do. Constantine wouldn't do it, but he's one of Tesco's better managers. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Bearing that in mind you must realise that people are going to be followed, some may appear suspicious, some not. However people are watched and followed. How would you react if whilst watching someone they acted in the manner that you have described?
