I know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont take my dd RnRing!!! cant concentrate!!! maybe I should though - would speed up CS process!!!

my son's getting good. It looks so much less suspiscious to have a daft 7yo running around with games to the scanner than me doing it.

Just have to train him not to blurt out whilst we're in the queue 'mum are we going to customer services to get free meat again today?'

When I phoned HO the last time I was told they had someone else registered at my address - I told her yes my husband, check your home delivery info we are both registered no one else just us and she didn't mention it again!
  • Not very happy! Inspired by the posts on the "tesco misprices" I've just gone to my local Tesco to try my luck with the 10% off on all PAYG phones. Well, the Motorola was one of 3 phones which had white sickers on while all the other phones had yellow stickers one with the original prices and the new 10% discounted price. Sure enough I was charged £69.99 for the Motorola. I duly went to the customer service desk where 1st lady gave me about 5 excuses why she wouldn't give me discount. Her supervisor gave me further 5. So we called the manager in. He tried to persuade me that £69.99 was actually the discounted price. I showed him their phone autumn brochure which they had instore which showed this phone at £69.99 so obviously this was the full price not the discounted price. He then told me he would reduce the phone as a goodwill gesture for all the waiting to £60 (I spent about 45 minutes in there!). I said (in a very polite and friendly manner) - look behind you it clearly states that if overcharge r&r applies. He told me that I technically wasn't overcharged because £60 wasn't a discount but his goodwill gesture and that it's too much money for r&r anyway. I've had enough by then so I just said OK, can I have a refund and you have the phone back.
I now think I should've kept the phone and got in touch with the HO. What do you guys think?

Yep, you should have kept the phone and complained to CS in Dundee. You were fed a load of BS. There is no maximum limit on the cost of an R&R.

Went to the first store and returned the Blue Peter and PowerRangers annuals which DIDN'T qualify for R&R when I purchased them from this store last week. Was amazed to find that CS were having trouble taking the discount off to refund me ?!?!? The surprisingly good natured Battle Witch of usual had quite a good laugh trying to wangle the system to give me the correct monies !

So, refund in hand I whispered to the son to go and get the same annuals as the discount didn't come off at the CS till and this time we should be in luck !!!

Put a few other items in the basket and went off to the tills... Can you believe it ? The discount came off !!! Aaaarrrggghhhh !!!!

Now, I can't understand it ? The only thing I can think of is that you have to put the annuals through the tills in a particular order ? In this case, the PowerRanger annual BEFORE the Blue Peter one ?!?!

So off to another store to try my new theory.... and the discount came off again !!!!

Came back with more in the boot than I went out with, lol !!!!
When you go through a normal till they are adding things into one total transaction and once that is complete the computer will work out any deals / BOGOFs, and other discounts before printing out your total bill.
When you go to a CS desk they are going through a different routine where they process a refund and scan the item for its individual cost, and then continue to scan more items until they have a total. The system doesnt appear setup to work out that there was a discount on those items when originally bought, or even a promo on right now, especially as you might have bought them before a promo started, and so just displays all the cost of the items totalled up. The smarter CS staff know about this and will work out the right amount to give you back as they dont want to give you too much money <g>, others wont and they might end up giving you back more than you actually paid.

An example, item is priced at £1.50 each or 2 for £2. You buy two and the till should charge you £2.00... alls well. You go to CS desk to get a refund for some other reason (wrong product, rush of buying fever..anything) and the till there will add the two £1.50 together and get £3.00. the smart CS person will make it work so they give you £2.00 refund, the others will give you £3.00 .... not that it ever happens to me of course :)

Manager turns up, shakes my hand, explains that they had made a mistake and would refund. Went on to say that he knew I'd had meat before and that the rnr policy was very generous. Next time they would not have to honour the policy because......

    strap in.

'Tesco need to keep a close eye on their profit margins.'

    :rotfl:
Ahh I would so like to have the wit and gab to be there when one says that .... especially with the recent news on profits :) I am not having a go at Tesco for making profit, thats what businesses do after all.

It would have been nice to turn to that manager and say something along the lines of .... £70 a second, £4,200 a minute, £63,000 every 15 mins, or over a quarter of a million pounds profit an hour .... so while you have had me stood here after overcharging me by £7.00 your company made xxx in profit.

You need to work the xxx out based on how long they made you wait, it will give you something to do while waiting :)

Something like £4150 (pre tax?) profit per minute based on roughly £1.09b over 26 weeks.
  • Waited about 10 minutes in which time they made about £42,000. They were trying to unerve me (is that their job?) and I'm not sure that they can refuse future RNRs just because they think I'm at it.

Also they querrried the fact that I didn't use my clubcard and insisted that I wrote my name and address on their little chitty. Gave them correct details as I've done nothing wrong. Bit concerned that they might be keeping tabs on me though. I'm not a prolific rnrer, they have overcharged me about a dozen times this year. Can they keep my details/pic to share with their staff? If so how do I deal with that?

The gloves are off Mr T.

My hubby has just had the Motorola L6 in both of our local stores, they actually lef the SEL up in one store so still ther if anyone else is local (Cleethorpes), they also have the Xbox 360 incorrectly priced at the electrical desk cabinet, he didn't want to push it too much in one night though!
CS admitted they are told to only offer the 10% back and hope the customer doesn't know about R&R - how bad is that???
