I managed to get a couple of handheld consoles after being overcharged, but felt really embarrassed. Espically when I had to point out the policy.
I was in my smartest business suit and stood tall when I got my PSP R&R - makes them intimidated, not me! If you look like a solicitor (I'm not but they don't know that) they are much less likely to treat you like a piece of crap stuck to their shoes.
And I would never get embarrassed - why should I be, when THEY are having to give me a refund because I caught THEM breaking the law????

By the way anyone who got a PSP will want games to go with it - I just ordered World Tour Soccer Challenge Edition from Game for just £6.48 delivered.

One of my sons already has this and it's a good game, so my other son will be able to play against him when Father Christmas brings his new white PSP at Christmas.
Shouldn't we start a thread for finding cheap PSP, DS and XBox360 games to go with our new kit? :D

  • Got a call form Kevin later in the day saying many checks are made with refund claims & wanted to know why my mobile number was the same as another claim & suggested I was making a claim for my own personal gain and abusing the policy.

I must admit if I bought a PSP and got treated bad by a manager I would be rather inclined to go to another store for a second one I wanted rather than be treated bad again. Also if the second store over charged me of course I would try to get R&R.

I was worried that the CS lady was gonna go and destroy the labels I had seen and bring back the current labels

i got this off the mispriced thread, i have highlighted something i was actually thinking about.....is that likely to happen? how do you guys get around it? follow the CS person?

Unfortunately this happens all too frequently  . Always follow the CS Assistant and show them exactly where you saw the lower price - that way they can't wriggle out of it ;);)

If I have a trolley, I tend to unload it into the car first, then go back in with just the overcharged items - makes it much easier to follow them if the store is busy.

Tesco's kevin is way out or order suggesting that anyone who has got more than one free console is abusing policy. I wonder how he would apply his suggestion to my experience ? I got a very quick refund on a mispriced psp but had to return to the store a couple of days later to collect the disc which they had (in their excitement at giving me my money back) forgotten to put into the games case. They were very nice about it all.

While I was in the store the second time, I did some more general shopping and also bought another console - with the money i'd got back on the first one - for my other grandchild. Well, incredibly, it was also an overcharge ! The Manager was embarrassed and immediately said I could have my money back again. This was just 4 days after the first refund and they knew I was coming back in cos I'd phoned to tell them about the missing game and it was all in their diary. I wouldn't have gone back in if it wasn't for the missing game as its 20 miles from my home. I did suggest that maybe their other offers might be wrong as well (they then checked and they were wrong so they thanked me as well!)

I didn't even have to look for that one - and I wasn't expecting it either as I thought they would have checked everything after the first refund.

I was quite shocked and dismayed to read this. It seems KK has now adopted the same mentality as most of the managers - i.e. you are "abusing" the policy if you get more than one R+R, and seem to fall into the same category as a shoplifter.

I always assumed KK was more intelligent than this and could understand that multiple R+Rs are a poor reflection on the company, not the customer. It's an even worse reflection on the company that such a large proportion of R+R claims need to be elevated to Dundee level because so many managers refuse point blank to honour the policy that is clearly and unequivocally written on the wall of their store.

I'm really angered that a senior member of Tesco Customer Services could label customers with terms like "personal gain" and "abusing", as he should be smart enough to know that the only guilty party in the whole saga is Tesco for repeatedly breaking the law in the first place. They have an incredibly sanctimonious view of themselves if they have the nerve to label customers as wrongdoers.

    Kevin Kelly should know better.

It is really he who should be doing the grovelling and apologising, as multiple R+Rs prove that his company is as guilty as sin of numerous offences.

Just in response to this, I have spoken to KK over the last couple of days and he has been nothing short of excellent. Polite, well mannered, apologetic for the mix up and as helpful as he could be.

I can't imagine why he would take a different approach to anyone else, but surely something must have raised his suspicion?

I got my PSP & Tekken refunded yesterday with Kevins willing help.
