  • Ok... have done a bit more digging.

Seems he has been selling a variety of motorbike bits and 4 have indeed finished today and yesterday.

Perhaps they all fetched less than he hoped for. I was thinking that perhaps he'd forgotten to put them as BIN... but then again, he'd have had to put the BIN price in, so why would he have accidentally put in a low start price by mistake?

    Two possibilities.

    - He is genuinely deluded about the £50 minimum reserve and believed he had set reserves on all four auctions.
    - He didn't want to pay to have a BIN or reserve, and is now backpedalling furiously now that they've sold too low.

He's unlikely to sell to you for the low price... in fact perhaps he's just trying to make a sly off-ebay buck by asking you to pay extra. (Fee free, I might add)

Whatever the reason... he needs educating that people aren't so stupid to fall for the 'I set a £20 reserve' story.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • The more I think about it the more this annoys me.

As the others have said, you can't force him to sell it to you for the price at which you won it, but you can let him know that you are not falling for his lies.

He must think you came in on a banana boat.
  • Thanks Fay & Rose.

As suggested by tomstickland I have email him with a link to ebay, aksing why he had thought he set a reserve at £20. I'll update when he replies.

I know hubby want the item, so I'm hoping I can embarrass him into sending it.

Also have a look at his choice language when things don't go right, in his replies to negative feedback. Also look at the feedback he leaves for others he is one of these P+P cost moaners after the event.

I also wonder what the real story is re his luggage carrier that was sold yesterday for £6.50 and is relisted today at a start of £7.50.

If he started his auction at £5 he decided his start price and it was not a mistake. Get your money back and neg him!!
  • How cheeky!!

How can people get away with this?!?!?

I sell on e-bay and like said before you do sell things sometimes that you could maybe have got more for - but thats why its an 'auction'..... you have a reserve price then you just accept over it!!

I'd be annoyed by this - let me know how you get on - blinkin cheek!!!

I think that ultimately you can use the contract of the auction to force him to send you the part for the agreed price. Otherwise just don't make any payment and leave feedback stating that seller refused to sell item.

Don't be hasty though; see how he responds to basic requests.
I've just looked at my username on that and relived the two negative moments, both from complete idiots. One who didn't contact me before leaving negative feedback when surface mail hadn't arrived in USA after 6 weeks. The other wouldn't pay postage and then blamed me!
    Happy chappy
  • the cheek of him...

in reply to my email about the reservation fee, I have received

That may be why then !...as you would have seen I had a few items on.
This is a genuine mistake...I am not a dishonest person and apologise again for any inconvienence.
If you don't want the item that is fine I will pay you back and any charges if applicable.

    to which I have replied:

I do want the item, I am not prepared to accept a refund. I expect the item to be dispatched for the amount I have paid. This is after all an auction website, and you must allow for the possibility that items may not always reach the price you expect.

    Almost instantly I got this...

    Sorry I can't do that.

Your call...I don't want to be difficult but there is no way that it is leaving my property for £10.00.

You know it is a bargain even at £20.00

I have admitted I made a mistake and will accept any consequence that may be associated.

    How do I start a non-performing seller?
  • PS. I have asked him if he is aware that it is also against ebay rules to request extra payment outside of the auction?

I have requested the item as I have won the auction, and paid, and I expect the item to be dispatched.

This guy knows what he is doing! Cheeky begger!
  • What a flippin (or words to that effect) cheek.
