  • No way, I'm too much of a cheapskate! :rotfl:

Besides, it's an excuse to snuggle in bed with my honey. ;)
  • Just wondered if anyone has put the heating on in their home yet? Temp in car this morning was reading at 10 deg C, and house was really cold but I just cant bring myself to switch on the heating as it is still only September. How cold does it have to be before everyone else gives in?!

Turned it on yesterday for the first time as I was freezing :(. Only had it on for a few hours but made a huge difference.
  • not had heating on yet might of had fire on if it hadn't beeen disconnected been feeling cold a lot lately but i'm wondering if it's because we've had damp washing hanging up to get dry even with dehumidifier on it takes longer than usual
Has anyone else noticed we wear more layers to keep warm so we don't put heating on so much but in turn this creates extra washing so we end up with loads to get dry and some of us end up using the heating just to get things dry kinda defeats the point don't you think?

  • I probably would have caved in by now if it weren't for the fact that the heating's not working!

I'm trying to hold out for as long as possible though, aiming for at least 1st Oct before I switch it on. However if the fault is terminal then it's gonna be a cold winter cos I don't have the money to fix it!!

This kind of thinking is potentially dangerous, especially if you are in the house all day long, so I would perhaps try to work out some way of getting it fixed or a less permanent (electric portable heater?) method of warming yourself.

Ive just put ours on this morning, newbuild in North Lincs, only because the OH was moaning all day long yesterday about being bloody cold, yes its hardly summer but christ its mild not cold

I have caved in. I have only had it on for really short bursts of less than 10mins once a day just to warm the house up after I have thrown all the windows open for some fresh, but really chilly air.
  • No and not going to until at least 1st Oct. Snuggle under a blanket at night on the sofa or go to bed early!!!

Ours is on a thermostat. If it's cold enough, it will click on for half an hour about 6.30am and again at 9pm. Never felt cold enough to have it on more than that.

I can't see the point in holding out for certain dates or wrapping myself up in umpteen layers of clothing. It's my home and I want to relax and be comfortable in it, so if I'm cold, I put the heating on it.
Here I go again on my own....

Not planning on stitching it on till at least october. not really felt too cold yet.
  • I'm in East Anglia and haven't put my heating on yet. But the coldest room in my house is the bathroom (always about 5 deg colder than the rest of the house  ), and this is struggling to get warmer than 16 C during the day, so I will probably have to put it on before much longer, when we take showers.
