The forcast for this wednesday in East Anglia is 24 degrees !!. so dont think we will need extra heat.......its been about 20 degrees here for quite sometime,..
  • No way! Its damp in Wales but not that cold yet. Although if you are living further up north than I am maybe its getting closer to time, but I say try and hold off till Oct 1st at least. My mum is down on the south coast and was out in the sun over the weekend, apparantly boosted her tan (her words, not mine!).

Like ampersand I'm a def hot water bottle girl, invest in one of those fluffy furry ones as they are great on the comfort levels and will save you a few £ on the heating if you do one of those every time you're chilly. I may go do mine now actually....
  • This kind of thinking is potentially dangerous, especially if you are in the house all day long, so I would perhaps try to work out some way of getting it fixed or a less permanent (electric portable heater?) method of warming yourself.

Ive just put ours on this morning, newbuild in North Lincs, only because the OH was moaning all day long yesterday about being bloody cold, yes its hardly summer but christ its mild not cold

    Thanks!

I am out a lot and I do have other heaters, but all is well because Daddy fixed it!
  • We moved recently from end of terrace to mid-terrace so thought the new house would be warmer, but I feel colder. Or it might just be that the weather has got colder since August!

Either way, thermostat stays around 17-21 degrees. Currently says 18.5 and it's very rainy and windy here. So no heating on yet.

The last house had an old G rated back boiler, this one has a A rated combi boiler so I'm hoping for a drop in bills despite having an extra room.

We put the central heating on on christmas eve for a treat, on other cold days, we take it in turns to cuddle the cat.

Only kidding, normally we start the heating october, for an hour in morning and a couple of hours at night.
  • We live in a cold country, heating isn't cheap but I consider being comfortable in your own home a reasonable expectation in a modern civilization.

The SE has been OK until today - 14C ! Think heating (on thermostat 21C) will kick in tonight :)

    14C I'd imagine rather than -14C!

I'm in the SE, and it has been nippy today - I put the heating on for an hour blast around lunchtime, but that was because I had oddles of washing to dry. If I hadn't had the washing to dry, I would have settled for an extra jumper!

Yep, SE isn't always the warmest. The cold snap in February actually hit us the worst ! (in terms of number of freezing days)

Eeek, just checked and 12C in Northolt, close to Harrow, NW London !!!! http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/03672.html
