Have you turned your heating on yet?

Mine went on today for about an hour because I was really cold. I refuse to use dates to decide whether or not to put heating on - spent too many years at school and at work waiting for those dates to come around so that I could actually be warm! I also spent too many years living in my current home without central heating to not take advantage now I have it. I will never understand people who take ridiculous "pride" in holding out as long as possible before taking advantage of instant heat. Obviously if one is going to struggle to pay the heating bill then it makes sense to wait as long as possible but while I can afford the bills I'm going to be warm no matter what the calendar says.

I couldnt agree more with your post,:) we all know winter comes so you have to get prepared well in advance, I like to make sure im well in credit with the gas and lec this time of year so I can put my heating on whatever it chucks at us, We dont smoke or drink so its the first priority to keep warm...:D0 -
Both my mum and friends have turned their heating on but my OH won't let me yet! Does feel wrong to be considering it in September but is blinking freezing here! We have storage heaters so will leave it late as possible, just in case we get a few nicer days before winter! Till then its my winnie the pooh fleecy number! We also have several blankets on sofa's for snuggling in to!I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
Yes they are on!! Mainly to dry clothes as we dont have a dryer, although Ive been silly and left them on overnight a few times....must get the timer kicked in. We had a new boiler last year though and we can control the temps more so am in credit with the gas!Single working mummy to 3 year old cheeky monkey DFD: July 2016 - Tesco Loan [STRIKE]£14,000[/STRIKE] £13,490 / Owe dad ([STRIKE]£500[/STRIKE]£450 / Very account £[STRIKE]70[/STRIKE]60 / Overdraft £270 = Total (Jul11 [STRIKE]£14,940[/STRIKE] Now £14,300 (Paid off £670) Need to lose 14lb (3/14) (currently [STRIKE]11st12[/STRIKE] 11st9) Deseparately need a holiday for 2012 (£0/£1000) - Car Fund (£0/£1500) - Christmas Savings (£70)

I haven't read this through but I don't understand what the time of year has got to do with whether the heating can go on or not. We've had ours on a few times now for an hour maybe - I feel the cold easily and will happily put the heating on in the summer if I'm cold (I do put extra clothes on first though - I'm not sat there in vest, shorts and heating on :rotfl:
ETA OH mother drives me mad with this - she only has heating on between November and February and is always complaining it's too warm in our house. Tough! Go home if you don't like it.0 -

Misguided Scots pride. I may have cheated and spent the weekend with family who have already started putting the heating on.
It's much nicer not being freezing, so when I go back home, I think I'm going to follow suit...
I'm going to do loads of washing first so I can say that the heaters are on to dry the clothes and not merely to keep me warm.

Hell yeah, the heatings on. There's been frost on the cars the last two mornings on Loch Lomondside. No woolly jumpers and hats or duvets in this house. I'll have plenty years of being cold when I pop my clogs.0

OH caved in, and we now have heating on in the morning - nice having a shower in a non-freezing bathroom!0

Ive had mine on but not for long, if its a really cold day like this morning, then I will switch it on for 30-40 minutes while the house warms up, then I wont switch it on again until the house is freezing cold again.0

We put ours on last week for the first time. Mainly just in the mornings when it's freezing to warm the flat up a little, half an hour is usually enough. In the evening we have an electric heater for the bedroom which we have been using, 10 minutes of that is usually enough to heat up that room.
Last year I actually got a refund on my gas bill! Which I hadn't expected at all as I felt we'd had our heating on much more than usual, but I'm still dreading winter coming.0 -
A couple of winters ago when I'd just been made redundant i was so tight with the heating and would only put it on for a set amount each day, it was so miserable being cold all the time! So now if me or the kids feel cold it goes on, so much nicer being in a house thats toasty warm!0
