Have you turned your heating on yet?

I haven't read this through but I don't understand what the time of year has got to do with whether the heating can go on or not.....
When I moved to Italy I was amazed there were regulations governing when heating could be on (October - April I think). At first it felt a bit invasive, but as we try to limit heating anyway I got the ''green'' vibe. Although I'd make acceptions for households where there were very young, elderly, ill or disabled people I think looking to restrict heating is pretty sensible, both or the environment and the bill. Not too an extreme tht health and well being suffers, but yes, I'll sit under a duvet, a couple of pets in the evenings, and when I'm cold though the day to the point doing more isn't working then I do the ironing, which generates a lot of heat. If you are already wrapped up in a duvet with warm clothes on underneath and thinking about a third pair of socks and you can't get doing stuff then obviously its sensible to put the heating on, if you are hot in a jumper when doing vigorous housework then IMO....the MSE attitude at least would be to fight it a bit longer.

Mine was only off for a couple of months.
My frail 85 year old mother in law lives with us, and she feels the cold.0 -
I've caved. The heating is on.
I only have storage heaters but they're on the lowest possible settings and it does just about take the chill off the room. I've got a cough and cold, have totally lost my voice so I'm damned if I'm gonna sit in a freezing cold house any longer.

I've not had it on yet. I have storage heating so it's way too expensive. I plan to switch them off and just have a wee oil filled one to wheel about.
I had to give the bathroom a quick blast with the convector heater for 5 mins before the kids bath the other night, but that's it.
They go to bed with vests and cozy sleep suits in the colder weather. I put on an extra cardi and sit with a blanket over me at night.
We don't have gas and my electricity bills are almost £ 100 a month. That seems too high so I'm trying to cut back on everything.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
My hubby has only just persuaded me to put the duvet back on the bed, I'm still too hot, could be the pregnancy but not planning on putting any heating on until at least 1st November, may wait until bubs arrives!0

God Yes!!!
I've been wearing a jumper and had a blanket on the sofa while watching tv for weeks, can't stand being cold, I don't smoke, rarely drink, its my one and only luxury, for me there is nothing worse than feeling cold!!:hello:0 -
I turned mine off in January, and the windows have been open every night since then.
I won't be turning it on at all I shouldn't think, my home has storage heaters with no timer facility so do not suit my lifestyle as I work during the day.
And I can't sleep without the window(s) open at night.0 -
Damn it! I caved over the weekend and turned my storage heater on – I turned it off last night and will probably put it back on again Thursday before I go to bed! Its been soooo cold!!! I doubt I will bother with it being on during the week as Im out 2 nights and the other 2 I’ll be so tired I will be in bed early!!!0
