Not sure if this is the right way to add more information to the thread.
I have found a few additional addresses to contact if you have been ripped off by Scentmall.
First of all, you must go through the motions with email complaints and replies to Scentmall itself. This will give you an evidence trail for your bank / credit card / other agencies. Keep copies of all messages. They will surely fob you off with sham dispatch numbers / promises / fake goods, but you need to show you have tried. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MORE MONEY!
As soon as you have a problem contact your bank / credit card company and initiate a dispute procedure. They MIGHT get your money back for you.
In addition, please try to help shut these pirates down - and complain to any other legitimate consumer protection that you can find. I have listed addresses below, sanitised to avoid spam (at) and (dot) in the addresses.
I think the key point is to wake these agencies up to the fact that is not the loss of an individual's £30 or £50 pounds that is at stake - (although it would be nice to get your money back) - it is that with over a hundred thousand complaints showing up online these pirates are running a many million pound scam operation. I think it should be stopped. Good luck with your complaints! Addresses follow:

girlsinger wrote: »Hi Everybody, I've joined this site today specifically to report my own experience of Scent Mall. I'm afraid it's the same story, paid £50 for a particular fragrance and have today received a completely different one which I expect is fake anyway. I'm kicking myself for not checking the company first as there are plenty of buyer experiences on the net. I consider myself as fairly savvy and have been happily shopping on the internet for several years now and this is my first rip-off.
Thanks for the info regarding the ECC, I've completed their complaints form so will let you know what they say. It does look as if the website is now closed so hopefully no-one else will get ripped off!
Having registered with this rather convincing site in order to make a purchase, my registration confirmation contained a reference to Bulgaria. I did some quick research (wish I'd done it first, but I also wish I looked like Brad Pitt, and I don't) and I find myself here.
This forum contains valuable information. I hope to add to it.
I've never been in this situation before, and called my credit card company immediately. Just for the sake of completeness, they said:
1 Don't worry. We have received notification of this payment (the correct amount, incidentally) although it has not been fully processed as yet. We have made a note on your account of your concerns, and in particular will not allow any other transactions from this company.
2 Wait a couple of days for despatch confirmation, or delivery of the item ordered, and review your suspicions.
3 if you still consider this to be fraudulent, then re-contact us and we will dispute the payment with the company.
I hope this may help others.
Kind regards, and thanks to those preceding posters.0 -
Today I have had an e-mail updating my order as "Dispatched", which did not include the tracking details that I requested on the original order form.
I have sent a communication via that order form, still listed against my order number on the website, further requesting tracking information.
More to follow as it happens, just to see how my order develops...0 -
Received an automated response first, followed quite soon by a personal one with a tracking number in the format RI nine digits BG.
Bulgarian post do have an English language tracking facility, as below:
www dot bgpost.bg/English/EServices/TrackTrace dot aspx
As of yet, this simply gives me..
"No information, please check your item identifier"
Since this can also happen with Royal Mail, I'll try later.0 -

Well, I've received a package from Bulgaria today, in a jiffy bag, normal post. It was marked "Sample" on the export tab, and contained a different make and type of EdT than that ordered by me. The package appears to be an unopened, plastic wrapped "Chanel" one, but I'm unable to tell whether its original or not, and I don't intend to open it.
Not really unexpected having found this post.
I'll start tomorrow by contacting my card provider again, and we shall see where we go from there.
Anyone in any doubt about the scentmall or perfumes.bg now should find this interesting.0 -
I contacted my CCCo., who believe that it is possible to dispute the payment without first returning incorrectly supplied goods.
I've also been asked to provide details of my order, e-mail exchanges and online research, including the diligent efforts made by forum users.
I'll let you know how it goes.0 -
(Listed upside down, sorry!) - I've removed my name from the e-mails.
"Thank you for quoting some legislation, perhaps if you had provided the correct item in the first place you would not have had to do so.
You will also note, if you read it yourself, that it does NOT say that I have to return the goods BEFORE you refund me the purchase price.
Further, you have not provided a return address, which I requested on 3/12/2011, and may be seen in the post listing on my order.
Do you intend to refund my money so that I can return the incorrectly supplied goods?"
03/14/2011, 14:04
"Dear Sirs,
Please read point 3 of the European Law for Distance Selling:
//ec.europa.eu/consumers/cons_int/safe_shop/dist_sell/index_en.htm
"Consumer's right to cancel the contract within a minimum of 7 working days without giving any reason and without penalty, except the cost of returning the goods (right of withdrawal);"
Kind Regards,

"I dispute this purchase, as you have not supplied the correct item, and I believe I do not need to return the item at this stage in order to do so.
Please refund my payment."
03/12/2011, 22:18
"The package arrived today.
You have supplied a wrapped Chanel product instead of the Hermes product ordered by me.
Clearly, this is incorrect.
I require a refund, and having received it, I will return the incorrectly supplied item to you, provided you provide me with a postal address."
03/07/2011, 14:38
"Please e-mail me with the tracking number for this package which you have told me has been dispatched by recorded delivery today.
Thanks"0 -
Hello again to anyone following this post so far;
Detailed below is the response that I sent today, recorded on both my Scentmall web order form, and to the contact named by the ECC formally requesting a refund upon return of the item.
In addition, I have taken and kept photographs of:
The original packing
The originally delivered, incorrect, Chanel EdT
The item packed in that original padded envelope, secured in a cardboard carton, then in ANOTHER padded envelope at the point of posting!
Best to all
AC5
Dear Sirs
I refer you to my order with you numbered #*****, dated 03/05/2011.
The item ordered was a HERMES EdT, and the item supplied a CHANEL Edt, which was clearly NOT correct.
Accordingly, I require a full refund in the sum of £67.76 made up of the cost of the original item (£56.70 equivalent to 61.01 Euro on the original order) PLUS the sum of £11.06 ( 11.90 Euro at the same conversion rate) the sum required to return the incorrectly supplied item to you NOT INCLUDING THE COST OF PACKAGING, WHICH I HAVE NOT CHARGED TO YOU.
I have returned the item to you, properly packaged, by International Recorded Delivery Mail.
The tracking reference number is RJ*********GB
Prior to returning the items, I have referred in my enquiries to the UK European Consumer Centre, who provided me with the following advice:
********************************
" I can advise you that under the Consumer Sales Directive and Sale of Goods Act 1979 the trader is obliged to provide the goods in accordance with their description (i.e. the correct item, genuine, etc.). Failure to do so may constitute a breach of contract and the trader is supposed to rectify the problem within reasonable time and at no further cost to you if this is the case.
We have been liaising with our corresponding office in Bulgaria with regards to the complaints made against this trader. My colleague advised us to request the consumers affected to contact Mr Ognyan Kostadinov at the trader's Complaints Department in order to arrange return of the goods to the trader for refund. Please see the contact details below:
Perfumes Ltd.
(Text removed by MSE Forum Team)
We would appreciate if you could contact (text removed by MSE Forum Team) in order to arrange return of the goods for full refund or the refund itself if the goods have already been sent back. We would strongly advise you to send the goods back to the trader by international recorded delivery to avoid any misunderstandings.
If the funds do not appear in your account within the time agreed with the trader, we will be more than happy to provide mediation service on your behalf - the next step in dealing with your complaint will be for details of your case to be shared with the European Consumer Centre where the trader is based."
***************************************
Please advise me as to by what date my refund of £67.76 will be made.
Regards
