I have looked on sitejabber, but alas the information available on there are more forum postings. However I did find one message quite interesting........
    Dear

My apologies for the delay. From our office informed me about your comment on SiteJabber.

I'll be happy to resolve your issue and give you a £25 voucher as compensation. Could you kindly remove it because our reputation is suffer.

    Kind Regards,
Assuming this letter is legit, then something certainly does not smell right about the company, as this letter in no way tries to defend itself, or threaten legal action for libel, if anything they request the member deletes their posts in return for what seems to be nothing short of a bribe.

    Furthermore the registrant,

    Appears to have had their server name suspended;

    Domain Name: SCENTMALL.COM
    Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
    Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
    Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com
    Name Server: NS1.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM
    Name Server: NS2.SUSPENDED-FOR.SPAM-AND-ABUSE.COM
    Status: clientDeleteProhibited
    Status: clientRenewProhibited
    Status: clientTransferProhibited
    Status: clientUpdateProhibited
    Updated Date: 22-sep-2010
    Creation Date: 07-jul-2004
    Expiration Date: 07-jul-2013
As a result they changed their domain name from Scentmall.co.uk to Scentmall.net.

Digging a little further I came across the name Perfumes.bg (whether or not related I can only speculate at this time ;)), however their connection is with scentmall's other alias Dreamstorage, net.

    Who do seem to panic.......
    Dear ,

Here is the Administrator of Perfumes.bg.

    Regarding to post: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/245...g?goto=newpost

We want to inform that we have bought the Store and Design from this company and we are not involved with them. You are maybe also aware of that because we are 100% sure that you have never problems with us.

We will be happy if you can remove your post. We will also write to the administrator of this website.

    Regards,
    Dear Customers,

Here is the answers of your questions:
    - We have bought the design and store because currently the company is in Liquidation and they offer us great price.
    - Regarding products, we resell about 10,000 different products which is certified.

Regarding the customer who open this thread, we will be happy if he can share his experience with us.

At all, we will appreciate closing and removing of this thread because we did not want to be associated with this fraud company and currently this is rising our reputation.

If this can't be done from the administrators, a legal proceedings will follow. We expect a follow up email stating that it has been removed!

    Regards,
    Perfumes Ltd.
    Dear ,

We did not mind anyone of the customers to share their experience with us.

We are not comfortable with thread who is saying: This companies are associated (Posted by you). This is pointing the customers into direction to think and believe in that, and we did not want this type Free advertising.

Also, we did not believe that posts like "Report this company to PayPal" and "Stay away" (without any experience with perfumes.bg) will help us at all.

We will be happy the administrators to end that drama, otherwise we will are in need to inform our solicitors.

    Regards,
    Perfumes Ltd.
But of course the connection stands out.........

The advice would be to stay away from anything to do with as they are also trading as perfumes.bg

Those affected might like to contact Godaddy who is their web hoster, inform them of what's going on. I'm sure it's a violation of user agreement between the site creator and Godaddy.

I will try to find out more for you, I cannot find anything in the way of concrete evidence as yet, but what little I have found most definitely leaves an "iffy" aroma in regards to scentmall, and I am not talking fake perfume ;)

Thanks for the update Marleyboy, sounds like progress is being made. I want to thank you for not closing this thread in the early days when there was nothing to go on but forum posts.

Do you think there is enough to go on to get the likes of Watchdog involved, or are the sums involved on an individual basis too low?

I have had no joy with the credit card company but will do as you suggest and contact GoDaddy.

Thanks again for the extended research, hopefully we can avoid people losing their hard-earned in the future.

Sorry, I had thought he was a mod, but I guess you're right. Either way, seems like there is now a trail to follow at least. I am posting what I have to Watchdog. I tried to add the link to their site but alas I don't have enough posts to add links.

Personally I doubt they will take it up, as the individual values lost are too low for them, but worth doing anyway, I guess.

UPDATE; Apparently victims of this scam are getting refunds via the ECC, who are fully aware of this company.

Contact http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/online_shopping/overseas-problems/ and let them know, it seems those using this route are being refunded (although it can take upto 28 days for a refund), Good luck and do let us all know how you get on.

As the one who started this thread, i can't beleive the comments that have come back and would just like to point one thing out - I am not newly registered and have had a bad experience with them so bang goes your comments that it is new posters submitting bad comments.
    Just a couple of things...
The UK ECC are investigating this company.
Watchdog have been contacted by numerous people - if they choose not to take up the case though does this mean there are no problems??
Sitejabber has many reviews from users of Scentmall who have all had the same problems as me.
Trust Pilot is as we speak being infiltrated by fake reviews from the company itself to try and boost their rating (200+ added in last 48 hrs).
Marley - regarding your earlier posts, it is not for you to say what you think is a scam by people posting reviews, thats me personally offended as it is me that you are talking about. I don't care if you believe what this site is doing or not, all i care about is stopping people buying goods from this site and being ripped off.
For all those of you who have been conned, please do contact the UK ECC as i received a refund thanks to their intervention after 4 months waitiing.
    Good luck
  • Thought I would add my voice to the ever increasing posts. Scentmall as far as I am concerned are a rip off company - I was sent the wrong perfume which is very obviously a fake - after many phone calls and emails asking the for the whereabouts of my order.
When I complained, Scentmall asked me to return the perfume but having read so many reviews from people who had returned the fake perfume and then never heard anything, I decided not to return it. I have all the emails, receipts, bank statements and the fake perfume if anyone needs any proof!

I bet "Alex" is female, given the name "Ivanova".

I'm assuming Bulgarian naming conventions are the same as Russian (which I know about) because both languages are Slavic in origin.

Ivanova as a surname for a Russian would indicate "wife/daughter of Ivanov", and "Alex" would probably be short for "Aleksandra".

I am not in the habit of posting negative reviews but the world should know about Scent Mall - they quote a low price, get your order, then take an elevated price from your credit card. The goods do not come until hassled; they then send FAKE perfume - yes, this was verified (Chanel themselves know what Scent Mall are up to). It is very clever of Marleyboy to say this is competitors etc etc . I assure you I have been ripped off and can prove it. Many people are now contacting UKECC and ECC Bulgaria - who know of Scent Mall and say that 'they are trying to make arrangement to repay customers', I am NOT stupid - it was impossible to seefrom the website that this co was in Bulgaria. Visa will do nothing about it. Is it a crime to try and get goods a little cheaper? Is that not why we are all using THIS website?? Scent Mall are scammers - google for yourselves - I wish I had had all the information before losing a lot of money.
