Just come across some expired posts on this company and noticed there were quite a few responses from MSE'ers saying that the reports were fake. I just want to say that they are actually all correct and it's probably people trying to get across that this company is a bunch of con artists.
I used them back in June when they were selling a perfume that i can no longer get anywhere. I was sent a different chanel perfume to the one ordered and it was fake. They advised that they were sorry an 'inferior' product was sent and to send back for a refund. I sent it back and now no longer get any response from them and have been waiting 2 months for a refund i know will never happen.
I have involved the UKECC who are looking into them and you only have to google them to see that a lot of people have the same problem as me and have fake perfume and no refund.
Please take this as a warning not to use them and please don't dismiss peoples comments just because they are trying to stop happening to other people what happened to them

I agree with you but the majority of posters on that other thread ARE one-post-wonders which leads me to suspect that they've been posted by a competitor rather than disgruntled consumers.

I wouldn't use Scent Mall because they are based in Eastern Europe where SOGA and Distance Selling Regulations don't apply. Their dot co dot uk domain is currently suspended and the dot net domain was only registered this July.

Shoddy practices on the internet need to be exposed by members here but MSE shouldn't be used as a tool in a Turf War.
  • I can assure you that I am not a 'competitor'. I am someone who has been taken in by this company and am now out of pocket. I havn't received anything, fake or otherwise, not even a reply to my MANY emails.

The trouble is that there have been SOME people repeatedly posting on the same thread with AIs which does nothing to aid the credibility of that thread, less is more,as they say.Overkill killed the thread, now just let it die a peaceful death.
Throwing around foul abuse got them the thread closed too, personally I could not believe anyone who does that, could you?

I have looked into this company again, and STILL I cannot find anything substantial to support these claims, there are plenty of forum posts available but nothing really constructive that can be relied on.

I have found plenty of positive reviews about this company, each that proclaim -
Scent Mall provides the public access to the widest inventory of branded fragrances, candles, skincare, aromatherapy products and more at lowest possible prices. All the products showcased at the company’s website are 100% authentic and original brand names. http://hubpages.com/hub/Scent-Mall-Offers-Its-Customers-A-Unique-And-Satisfying-Shopping-Experience

Now all these positive reviews could possibly be a front, a Kevin Scent does tend to go around various sites quoting the same post regarding his products being authentic. But so far I have still found nothing constructive other than posts in forums (random forums) that all state the same claims, all of which are posted by new forum members who then disappear.

This is not to say these posts are not true, but a forum post is not reliable enough to be classed as fact, which is why I dig a little deeper when it comes to complaints, by now I would expect at least an investigation, a watchdog warning, a newspaper report, something to add credence to a forum post.

Imagine for example a newspaper reported a claim about a company being fraudulent, based solely on an anonymous letter, which turned out to be mis-information. The company would and could take the newspaper to the cleaners over it, which is why they would first look into it, commonly known as "investigate". So far I have investigated this company and can only find anonymous postings in randomly selected forums, suspiciously identical word for word. I cannot accuse the company of being a scam based only on anonymous posts. I am pretty vigorous when it comes to research, as well as determined when it comes to scams or cowboy companies.

I am more than happy to expose companies that scam people (I've been doing that for Years) but so far with regards to this company, I have found nothing that collaborates these posts.

  • I can confirm they are a scam. I ordered two bottles of Armani Night and was sent one bottle of Armani He. The packaging is obviously fake, so I did a quick google and found lots of reports of them being fake.

Does anyone know if there is any recourse from the Credit Card company when you are sold fake goods?

You say you have found "lots of reports" please can you provide me with the links to back it up, as I have not found any reports at all, albeit plenty of forum posts.

    Hi,

Sorry, I tried to post a link just now and the forum won't allow me. I think I don't have enough posts I guess.

I typed scentmall into google and the first listing (non sponsored) has a lot of people saying it is fake. That is what I mean by lots of reports, but yes, they could be fake.

Where I have no doubt though is what I was posted is fake, no doubt about it. As well as that, there was 1 bottle as opposed to 2 and it was the wrong product. If you read the reports on the site I mentioned someone else has had the same problem.

I am still looking for something a little more substantial, if they are selling fake items I would expect by now at the very least, some sort of investigation or report, if not by the media, at least Watchdog or TS, as I cannot rely on forum posts alone as being evidential enough for me to conclude with.

I will be more than happy to report any findings I find on here, particularly if they are scamming people left, right and centre. This is not to say such posts are faked, I have just not found anything online to determine one way or the other.

  • Thanks, but it is chicken and egg as I see it. You are looking for someone else to have "evidence" before finding it yourself. I am not saying you should go and order a product to see for yourself, but that seems the only way of finding out without having a newspaper or TV report where they have done that.

I have the credit card statement, their order emails, plus the fake product, but alas it is just my word against theirs. I can give you their details, their phone number etc (which as people have suggested, they don't answer) if that will help. I will even "chip-in" if you want to place an order if it will help them get outed.

I am more than willing to do anything it takes to stop this from going too much further. I am more than happy to discuss this via PM too and give you my full details if you would prefer to take this off-line until you have investigated further.

    Cheers,

    Jim

It might be helpful if at least one of these customers "reported it", its futile if all that is going to happen with customers getting ripped off, is they just post on a forum.

There is Trading Standards, Watchdog, Newspapers or even the Police, if enough people went to the trouble of reporting it to the relevant authorities, it would be investigated, at the very least enough for them to issue some sort of a warning, else it is going to end up as a "chicken and egg" scenario.

I really have no intentions of ordering products from them in order to find out, you would be just left with another forum post from me saying "yes its true - they are fake", or "actually they are authentic", it would still not change the circumstances that all it creates, is another forum post.
