what a nightmare it is getting things sorted-but thats bye the bye

i registered on Nov1st and the DD came out on the 17th
  • I signed up today (15th). They're offering the Lobster 544 phone now. For £2.99 p&p, why not? Let's see if Virgin are true to their word and the phone arrives this morning. Then there's just the porting hurdle to jump and I'm home and dry...

Update: Delivered at 7.45am. Less than 12 hours from ordering to delivery- impressive. Just porting to sort. Can things really go this smoothly with a mobile company?
...and then the window licker said to me...
  • I have just got a great deal have to pass it on,
I have NTL broadband and I have just switched my mobile network to Virgin Mobile on a deal called "£10 with Cable". Its great £10 instead of £20 -
    300 cross network minutes plus
    300 text a month

which roll over when not used to the next month. My existing network t-mobile could not match it - so I switched and they gave me a free Nokia 1112 ! (black & white screen but still a spare phone)
    oh and free voicemail too
    http://www.virginmobile.com/
There are 2 accounts allowed for anyone with an NTL customer Account,
So I am going to switch my wife's phone before the 31 Dec when the offer runs out!
Sorry if everyone knew about this already,

    Alex

Available to new customers or existing customers taking an additional service (subject to status and credit checks). Offer comprises: £40 a month for 12 months: ntl: up to 2Mb Broadband, Digital TV Select Pack, Talk Weekends and Virgin Mobile SIM with Cable (300 mins/300 texts) ("promotional tariff"); Telewest: up to 2Mb Broadband, Digital TV Starter Pack, Talk Weekends and Virgin Mobile SIM with Cable (300 mins/300 texts) ("promotional tariff"). After 12 months, standard prices apply (currently £44.49). Includes free installation (worth £75:ntl; £25:Telewest). You must take all services included in this offer for at least 12 months. If you change any part of this package, standard prices apply. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer/promotion. Terms and Conditions:

Just taken the above from terms and conditions from the virgin mobile website. As an NTl customer I would be uanble to use this offer as I don't wish to take out any additional services, plus I am on so many deals with NTL to get a low price for a full package that it is not worth going back to full price for this phone.

Cheers for the heads up but it won't work for me financially.

    Sx

Virgin simply ask for your cable account number and if it valid will set up the offer.

So if you want it, go for it. You can also give them your PAC if you want to take your exisiting mobile number with you!

Made myself a cup of coffee and sat down in front of tv. Rang the virgin free phone number. According to previous posts i was expecting a long wait. Imagine my surprise when i got straight through.

Ordered a phone, lobster 544, as they have run out of 575. It will be delivered tomorrow subject to credit check.

Bit wary of this deal. seems too good to be true. Especially when the unused minutes rollover to the next month.

Will see how i get along with virgin. If unhappy then i will revert back to onestopphoneshop when hopefully they have decent/more phones on free line rental contract. My existing free line rental contract has finished.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
  • Porting is scheduled to take about two and a half weeks. A bit long but that does incorporate Bank holidays etc...

Phone them up to place your order and tell them that you would like the Lobster phone. It worked for me.
