PM me with any working numbers please.

    Thanks

Nope, have tried all the suggestions, including the most recent one on saynoto0870 forum, but nothing works for me.

Just rung on the 0870 number, got cut off first time  and then got told that they will only speak to my husband as the account is in his name , even though he has previously given permission for me to instruct them and I know the password. Great. He isn't keen on doing the bartering bit over the phone, so not best pleased.

Apologies if I've missed this somewhere else but I don't have any premium channels just the family package. I'd like Sky+ and quite fancy playing 'call my bluff' to try and bag a new box and install for £79 (should be able to stretch to that) but is there any additional monthly charge for Sky+ if you don't have the multiroom option ??

    Cheers

    purplepatch,

I'm in the same position as you, except it is my wife who is the account holder. Sent an email to James Murdoch (james.murdoch@bskyb.com) the other day complaining about this (and a few other matters) and got the following reply:

    Dear Mr X,

Thank you for your recent email, addressed to James Murdoch, which has been passed for my attention.

Firstly please let me apologise that you have experienced difficulties in adding your details as an authorised contactor for your wife's account.

I have sent out a letter to your wife today enclosing an authorised contactor consent form. If I could respectfully request that your wife complete and return this form at her earliest convenience, this will allow you to have fully access to the Sky account other than cancellation of the account. This would still need to be done by Mrs X by giving the contractual one months notice.

With regards to promotional package deals, these are on offer periodically from Sky digital. They are distributed to our customers, as well as potential customers, in various forms i.e. telephone, mail drops, newspaper and magazine advertising and through our web site.

I can advise that marketing projects are on going and involve several different promotional offers. These projects cover a wide range of area codes, therefore, you may possibly receive a promotional offer at a future date.

Your comments and observations are taken very seriously by Sky, and I can assure you these will be passed for the attention of the relevant departments.

Should you require any further assistance in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the address above (which is AllCustomerCareEscalation@BSkyB.com).

Going to email them back to say that if they can't offer me one of their different promotional options straight away then the first action my wife will take when we get this authorised contactor consent form will be to cancel the whole thing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained... ;)

I think if you don't have 2 premium channels they charge you £10 a month extra. See here.

Seems that the preferential deal for sky+ for new customers over existing ones doesn't exist anymore. Hope that doesn't affect them offering it for £79.

Good luck, interested to know how you get on with emailing rather than phoning.

I'm going to prime hubby with all the info he needs and get him to ring tonight after the football - he'll have had a couple of beers so perhaps that might help with the dutch courage ;)

    quick question

i have multiroom in my room with my mom having the main box downstairs and i wanted a sky+ box (she isnt really bothered about it, she's happy as she is) and i called up to query about just me getting it.
i was told that yes i could have it but its gonna be full price and i would have to pay an additional £10 unless the package was upgraded to sports or movies.

i wonder if its worth trying to get the 25% off for a year thing, upgradeing to the movies (which we only really get for a couple months over xmas) and trying to haggle for a half price sky+ box (wouldnt have to pay installation due to multi-room) and wouldnt have to pay the £10 supplement for the first year at least...

what do you reckon the chances are of getting both from them? we've been with them for a good 5 years or so and have never had any offers

Really pleased i found this thread... i think i have persuaded OH to get Sky+ and if i can get it for £79 including set up - we'll both be pleased. We only have family pack - had 2 half price upgrades this year but to be honest we didn't watch anything extra - but thought of paying £10 a month extra for no extra channels chokes me!! We don't want multiroom as we have a booster downstairs that sends our tv/sky to 2 other rooms (and use a magic eye thingy) - will sky + work same???
  • be careful about the 25% off for a year deal, they forget to tell you that if the sky breaks down, you are in a 12 month contract, and because you own the box, you have to pay for a engineer

Well, with very little bartering, we got offered sky+ for £79 including connection, no multiroom, and we've also opted to reduce our monthly package to the bare minimum to include sky sports which is £34 a month which is the standard deal, but it was obvious that she wasn't going to offer a deal on the sky+ and a deal on the package. Quite pleased with that, although I suspect I will miss watching the odd movie.

The woman we spoke to said that you only have to have the channel package for 30 days at a time, so if we miss anything too much we can always add it back in at a later date. So might phone up in a month's time to see if they are doing any special offers on the movies ;)

Does anyone know what the sky+ installation consists of? Do they have to adjust the satellite dish or is it all done indoors?
