Given that the deals are offered by the cancellation department, I'd advise waiting til contract is up in November, then ring to "cancel" at the first possible opportunity.0 -
Noone here has mentionned Freesat......is that still going and what channels do you get on it? Will it work with the Sky+ boxes?illegitimi non carborundum0

Yes i gave that a go,thanks, but it doesnt mention anything about skys offer of free broadband and mentions sky world which i havent came across i thought you just chose bundles also the sky site is a bit confusing i thought it would be £18 for the 3 bundles but when you build your package online its stating £18 for the first 3 months then it would be £36 thereafter:o so its not quite the excellent deal i thought it wasThe more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

You need two sky cables to go into the back of your sky+ box, then phone sky and ask them to switch on the sky+ recording facility.
This is free as long as you are subscribing to two or more premium channels e.g Movies 1 and 2 or Sports 1 and 2 or a mix of these.0 -

You can phone and threaten to cancel within 30 days of the end of your contract.
Sky cancels your account with 30 days notice, therefore you are prefectly entitled to request a cancel 30 days from the end of your contract, and this would trigger offers from the cancellation dept.;)0 -

I'm going to prime hubby with all the info he needs and get him to ring tonight after the football - he'll have had a couple of beers so perhaps that might help with the dutch courage
Had this reply back today:Dear Mr X,
Thank you for your recent email. Please accept my apologies that you have had reason to contact me again.
I am sorry that you are unhappy with my previous response to your email and that you remain disappointed with the promotional offers available to customers.
I have checked your Sky account and can confirm that the necessary indicators have been set to allow you to receive marketing offers.
However, I do appreciate that you are a loyal customer and in view of this I have applied an offer of 3 months at 50% off your chosen package. I hope you will accept this with my compliments.
I look forward to receiving the completed authorised contactor form and please convey my thanks to your wife for her co-operation in this matter.
We want all our our customers to get the best service possible and I am sorry that you feel let down in this instance.
Should you require any further assistance in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the address above.
Not as good as many of the deals that fellow MSEers have been offered, but better than a poke in then eye with a sharp stick and at least I didn't have to faff around with haggling on the phone - it'll do me for now.

Hi
I rung sky today and asked to cancel my sky+ as i said i was on maternity leave and couldnt afford to have it anymore.
got asked what channels i watched the most and as i have the full package i said movies and sport (as i thought they would say we can lower the cost by taking away channels)
he then said i can do you a deal of 3 months at half price no contract, so they will be getting another call from me in 3 months to see what they can do
Thank you so much have saved over £60!!!!
i would say to anyone who has had their sky over 1 year just ring up all they can say is no!!!0 -
Any advice please folks..
I have standard sky and been with them for flipping years, the package I have is the 21 quid a month and never had any kind of special deal.
Well, they they rang me yesterday out of the blue! saying I could have a special loyalty deal, half price movies and sports for three months. totalling 32 quid a month all together.
I said I'll think about it, ring me in a day or two.
question is.... could I screw more out of them? going by me accidentally finding this forum, any thing is possible if you know what to say, and how to say it.
many thanksQuotes in context only please.0
