The ONLY department that can offer the deals quoted on this sited is the cancellation dept. They can only be applied when you could genuinely cancel the account i.e. not within the 12 month initial contract period
If you just want to reduce your pacakge then sky are still keeping you as a customer so do not have to offer you some inducement to stay.

Thought that might be the case, although I was remebering back a couple of years ago that there was a heads up on mse saying that you could get the full package half price for 3 months over Christmas period which we managed to get. I'm sure I didn't go through cancellations to get it. Maybe that was some sort of special promotion though.

I have just signed up for Sky+. I know that means I am on a 12 month contract again with Sky but can I reduce the channels I take or will the new contract specify I have to keep the same channel package

No, you can still change your channel package - I think the woman I spoke to said something about giving 30 days notice but other than that you can do it as often as you like.
  • We phoned Sky to ask if there was any deals they could do as Telewest had offered us the same package we had with Sky for £4.50 a month less. We were longstanding customers and were told that there wasn't anything they could do and to leave if that was what we wanted! I then wrote an email to Sky Customer Services asking could they offer any incentives to stay with them and if not to take the email as confirmation that we wished to cancel. I received a confirmation email saying they had received my email within minutes and 2 hours later an email saying that we were to receive a 50% reduction for 6 months:D

If at first you don't succeed try and try again is the motto of the story!
  • Does anyone know if this is possible

If I cancel sky could my husband then apply for a new subscription in his name??
  • We got sky+ put in a few months ago and declined multiroom. Was only after the engineer had installed it that he told us we could have got the multiroom box for free. Now that we want multiroom they are demanding £89 for the box! and we're on the top package! I could possibly understand if we were on the lowest package!

Might phone them up and see about getting it then turn them down when they tell me the price, hopefully they'll offer a discount or even better a free box!! ;)

  • I've been with Sky for nearly 12 months. My 12 month contract is due to end in December. When can I start hassling them for a good deal???
  • Phoned Sky last week to cancel, Got a new box and dish fitted free, Phoned again on Saturday to cancel, After a bit of haggling got the £36 pm deal, discounted to £18 for three months, Very pleased, sorted for Christmas . Alan.:j

Yes you can - Have done it various times. Why would you want to cancel though? You would get a better offer if you stayed with them and pretend to cancel.
