I get your meaning of these people having enough labels, my son is dyslexic and there have been other members of my family with disabilities (which are unfortunately no longer with us) but I do think shoppers etc need to know in some way.

I have just been to my building society.
The sign on one of the desks said "I am training but I can still help you".

    I thought this was great.
It would have prepared me to either be patient or go to another desk if I had something which was really complicated.
I am sure it was also a benefit to the staff member as well as the customers.

No public humiliation. No warnings about abnormalities.
Just a simple friendly sign to help both sets of people.

I agree thats a good sign worthy of other shops to take on board. However, This whole posting has gone off tangent lol We dont know if the lad who upset Bexxie was in training or had mental issues. Maybe he was just thinking with his nuts as [STRIKE]most[/STRIKE] some lads do lol

Lets hope I dont get a barrage of abuse hurled at me for stereotyping young lads now :rotfl:

  • I work for Asda and customer service is a main priority of theirs, which store was it?
If i was you i would go back into the store ask to see the manager and face to face complain. and if you dont get anywhere ask for the head office address so you can write to them... that will scare them enough to try and rectify problems!!
    Love my hobby ;-)

Just for the record, I was infected with cryptosporidium (from contaminated water) when I was 11 weeks pregnant and it was hideous. The rest of the family were ok, but I think being pregnant made me susceptible and I was so ill ...... so as far as the chicken is concerned, make a fuss and get your money back!

I don't think we need signs, labels, different coloured badges, hats, tags or anything else. We need to slow down and be a little more tolerant, i would rather have my shopping take a little more time and walk away with a smile on my face. We all have our own special needs and problems.

    I an ideal world yes.

But when you go shopping with 1 or more children, or your in a hurry, or absolutely anything and your not in your best mood ever - sometimes we aren't stepford wives in the real world.

I understand what you are saying, but i do go shopping with my kids and yes it can be quite hard, but i chose to have kids and they come shopping with me. I am no saint and do not suffer fools, but why should someone be on the brunt of your bad mood because you are in a hurry. As i said slow down.

In the real world i am not a stepford husband. I am not the worst off person in the world and i doubt that you are.

    Ok I'm off now.

Been too caught up in the arguments going on in this thread and its going round in circles now with personal comments being thrown in.

Best of luck to Bexxi90 and I am pleased that you got this sorted. Good luck with your baby.

I am sorry if what I said upset some people.

If you read my post you would notice that I went out of my way to HELP the lipreader because I was notified of her disability.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion but I can't see how going out of your way to HELP someone can be described as petty ???

I am very happy to discuss the techniques that should be used and maybe some of you have good points about the downsides to badging.
    That's absolutely fine.
I don't have a problem with my arguments being criticised.

But to criticise the person for having bad intentions when the whole intention is to accomodate and help people is poor...very poor indeed.

now trust me on this one the whole tone of your long post stunk ...really stunk.
now i could pick holes in the whole thing and if you want i will ....sometimes when you're in a hole stop digging.

i thought the shop assistant helped you ? thanks for going out of your way by talking face to face with them....what do you normally do when speaking to someone in a shop ? aaargghh!
