Hi all
Please move if in wrong place but I need some advice
On the 14th September I visited my local Asda store. I am quite obviouley pregnant and whilst trying to put shopping on the checkout conveyor i was struggling a lot as the trolley still had items in,it was all over conveyor and cashier going like a good 'un piling it up. I said to him would you mind either slowing down or helping me just for a minute or so,which he did. Now you have to imagine that i am having a job even reaching over to get bags and pack with my belly in the way, when he says to me "are you pregnant" so I reply yes as you can see me having job here packing~~HINT HINT
So he then turns round and says "OOH lovely, how many times did it take you to conceive"? And leerily eyes me up and down for rest of shopping packing....he was creepy with a really effeminate mannor (not against that by the way) just cringy horrid feeling i got off him. Now my hormones are okay so it isnt a reaction on my part as frind with me said "You know why I didnt want that till now" Thanks!!
The other problem i had was a disgusting off chicken, smelt disgusting and was dirty.................
So i get home and next day i e-mail and wait.nothing so on Saturday just gone 23rd I spoke to the store manager and all I got was "OH right well esy he is a little slow so to speak will have words with him" When I mentioned the chicken nothing was replied they couldnt wait to get off the phone........
What do I do here?
Am I over-reacting?
Please advise cos I feel i am going mad.......

id ring their customer services jobby, stating how disgusted you were by the cashiers comments etc n then go on a rant about the manager's lack of interest and unresponsiveness in the matter. both the cashiers and the managers name should be on your reciept. the cust serv number is usually on the back of asda brand products... cust serv may want the barcode numbers n the code next to it for reference....
hth...does my bum look big in this sig?0 -
Escalate it higher, it may be that the check out kid is slow - but the manager isn't and it should be dealt with in an appropriate manner. A verbal apology would have been a good start......0

Hi, I work for Asds on george clothing and i also q bust to get the qs down and we are trained to a high standard. EG always say hello and ask if the customer would like a hand packing. Maybe the collegue who you had did have special needs but if he would still have to be trained to the same standard or he would not be on the tills! Also if you are not happy about the manager that you spoke too then either contact the store manager and if still no luck then contact asda house.
I hope this helps0 -
I work at asda too and there are some creepy employees who work there. What he did and said was not on at all and you should definately take it to asda house. Also, the chicken - I can not believe that they didn't do anything, that is absoloutely disgusting. Persue this!
Good luck:A I love MSE!!! :A0 -
Thats an odd sort of thing for someone to ask.
Wondering if he has Autism/Aspergers or something.
If he has then he probably didn;t think it was an offensive question to ask.
My son has autism which is what is making me wonder if he is on the spectrum.0 -
Hi I am a trained mental health officer and would have spotted immdeiately if it was aspergers,or the like. He seemed to me someone who has lived with mummy all his life and really doesnt know better or is a complete pervert who manipulates situations to his advantage, this I have seen on many occassions.
I am going to phone them now,thank-you for your kind advice.

with your background in mental health issues do you think training in customer relations is likely to help this person ?0 -
It depends,if he is just blatently rude and ignorant to it,had a sheltered life etc etc then yes with the right training and approach he maybe will take a look at where he is going wrong in customer relations. I think everyone deserves a chance and although i was upset on the day and totally creeped out, there is not a lot more I can do other than what I have done.
If this was a person with special needs,ie;a learning disability then the right approach would be very much down to the individual and that would not be for me to say without meeting the person with the requirements.
Is it me or was that quip "With your background in Mental Health issues do you think training in customer relations is likely to help this person?" a little patronising??????
If it isn't then I apologise. There was no way in hell he had learning probs of the nature I deal with..

Hi there bexxie
I think perhaps hammy was asking a genuine question. This person sounds like a nasty individual who uses other peoples situations as a weapon to whack them with. I am sorry to sound cynical but the older I get, the more disappointed I am that some people just enjoy being horrible. This persons ID is obviously available via your receipt and I would not want to be on the receiving end of their behaviour. I would leave no doubt that this behaviour was outrageously unacceptable and should not be inflicted on other unsuspecting customers, shortly before I signed up for a Tesco Clubcard Plus and never ever shopped in Asdas again.Student loan no morepaid off
