Thats why I am confused so you think that everyone who said they got there didnt? I have no chance then! I feel like a right idot. So gutted hope I can get my money back in time for xmas!0

Call the police and your bank. trading standards etc. if you are genuine.
if you are like the vast majority of first time posters on this thread im sure you will get your dyson soon (as they mostly work for the company)
As did flyjetz. He's really John Essinger and joined this forum in 2008 in the hope that one day he'd start a company called Utopia.
Bingo! Now he sells Dysons and rips people off and he can pretend he bought one and received it. :eek:0 -
do people really do that?0

ah yet another suspicious new poster flying in to this forum just to defend utopia. welcome to the forum radar, dont bother looking around the other forums we know why you are here.0

Hmmmm... I don't no where, from in what I wrote that you gleaned I was a Utopia supporter. I found this thread after I received the same email as others saying the credit card machine was broken and asking for a cheque or bank transfer as payment. I googled the company name and this thread came up as third result.
I read through every post and found it all very amusing the way the 'old hands' were very skeptical (and insulting) of first time posters saying they had received the goods.
Then when a member who joined this forum in 2008 said he had the same experience and finally got the Dyson piped up all the 'Old hands' went quiet, except you.
Now I'm a supporter too :rotfl:
I'll tell you what I am, very stupid for even ordering one. But not so stupid as to send my bank details or keep my credit card open.0 -
I've heard that Utopia have recruited Santa to deliver to anyone who emails to say they'll be contacting Watchdog unless they get their cheap Dyson.
As for the poster from 2008, he's posted a grand total of 2 posts, if he had some form then he'd be believed.0 -
ill not be happy till i hear back from the second poster. EVERYONE else has had a one post count, or in the case of the member from 08, only a few posts to show for their 3 years membership. i dont know how big john ensingers company is, that that person might be involved. its possible.
if the person who posted second saying they thought they had been scammed HAD paid and HADNT got anything, if they come back and say they got theirs ill let it lie.0 -
Were we to assume that all the new posters are genuine, all 25 of them, one would expect there to be more than just one previous poster who would find this site and post on here, just the law of averages. However contrary to this, I would expect that more experienced posters would not be so gullible as to fall for this.
I noticed that Utopia et al were exultant when one previous poster said he received theirs – well done so we have one at last. Just a note we don’t actually sit on this site day-in day-out waiting for new posts. Just intrigued by all the shenanigans, would be quite entertaining if it wasn’t so sad.
Internet buying rules to minimise risk, after all we should try to help the less experienced:
1. Always use yr credit card for internet purchases, do not use other cash payment mechanisms.
2. For retailers/sellers you haven’t used before, check reviews before you buy.
3. Discount reviews from new posters, especially those that appear just after a bad post.
4. If the above doesn't apply, then if its too good to be true , it probably is!
Ensinger and co say the CC issue is due to a change in issuer; however it is stretching credibility that this should be going on for over 3 months! And why did they change?
As I said before I did try and buy one, but refused once the CC issue came up. Utopia did not confirm the cancellation.
Now that Utopia is no longer coming up on Google for DC31, Dyson (or even Dy.son!) for product searches, maybe this will die down. The price for these items has crept up, is now upwards from £135 quid, so I guess that those with orders at £99 will be loath to cancel, but I would accept Utopia’s offer of a refund if you’re reading this.
Merry Christmas everyone - look here; http://ak.imgag.com/imgag/product/preview/flash/bws8Shell_fps24.swf?ihost=http://ak.imgag.com/imgag&brandldrPath=/product/full/el/&cardNum=/product/full/ap/3166187/graphic10 -
This is the second time I have posted, I received my first Dyson DC31 after completing a bank transfer it works great. I then ordered again bank transfer last week and received my order this week. I have no complaints with the company my calls have always been answered and tracking numbers given through email. I think a postive review is needed. I have been watching this thread and and has any one not received their goods???0

Merry Christmas everyone - look here;
Ah, a helpful post at last. What an unfriendly place this is.
As you can see this is my first post but notice I have been a member for a long time. It is really off-putting to any new poster to see so many insulting comments. I can understand the skepticism but there's no need to be rude. Some of us are genuine. Why not just politely express your doubts at least until you know the poster is not genuine.
I too have been caught out by this scam. I should have known better. It just shows how easy it is to succumb to offers at 'can't believe it' prices. I wrongly assumed because it was a secure https payment page it was all OK.
No money has been taken from my account (yet!) and I've bought elsewhere now. But I am concerned about the CC details I gave them.
Their website appears to be down, at least for the time being. I don't know if that is a good sign or not.
And thanks, robmar0se, for the Merry Christmas link. That'll keep my granddaughter amused for a few minutes.0
