You can claim back some of the charges on a business account, similar to a personal account such as returned dd/cheques etc but not monthly/annual business charges or charges for dealing with cash, paying in cheques etc.

Please see post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread, link in my signature and if you have any queries on your business charges, please phone the bank and/or get their list of business charges.
  • Does the ruling on unfair charges apply to businesses too? krissxxx
  • can you reclaim banks charges that were made on business account both sole trader and ltd? and can you do this even if account is now closed?
thankyou to anyone who can help.
  • yes you can claim on business accounts closed or not. The data protection request dosent cover a Ltd companies data though it will cover your sole traders but you should still have your statements for Inland Revenue purposes

I have tried the search function - and cannot get the darn thing to work! But its a quick question.

Anyhow - I had a business account with HSBC. It was a simple business account as I was a sole trader.

I owe about £68 on the account, but this would be wiped out with any refunds of charges (and then some!). However, can I claim in the same way for business accounts as I would my personal accounts???? Or are the letters/process any different?

The debt has now been sold onto a third party company.

    Thanks!!! :T

  • Hi,

Does the £10 statement charge apply to business accounts? I have been told by my business banking manager that I will be charged £5 per sheet.

I want to claim charges on my business account for the last 4 years but sure as hell aint paying that.

Anyones got any ideas??? Can I use my online statements or do they need to be on headed paper

    Any help would be grateful.

Are you trading as a limited company? Others may correct me dut I don't think the DPA applies to companies.

The statements are only a guide to help you - it doesn't matter what they are printed on.
