Thats what is confusing. I received that e-mail this afternoon, however when speaking to someone on the phone this morning, they informed me that the student was the one being charged the 75% CT as i have applied for CTB which means i will not be paying CT.
The question is why when I am claiming CTB does the student get charged
Im getting my knickers in a twist because people are asking the same question and not reading the first post correctly
So you still will not answer the questions you have been asked? Refer to robpw2's last post if you can't work out what they are!Gone ... or have I?0 -
I'm beginning to wonder if he even knows!
OP, as you have been asked several times, have you applied for CTB, and if so, what have you been awarded?
i have answered the same everytime and am no longer interested in what you think anymore, i will not be answer any of your questions[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

are you a student ... yes/ no
are you in reciept of ctb yes/ no if yes how much
is mr webster the other person yes/no
has the person who emailed you made a mistake with the names and who is a student yes/ no
YES he obviously has but having said that if your email with him was as informative as your posts on here then no wonder he has got muddled who was a student and who isnt ..
simple answer to question is the student is exempt completly and the one on income support is not exempt but may be entitled to get ctb
I am NOT the student
I am in reciept of CBT, been told 25% because the student is having to pay council tax
I am mr webster
i did not send the e-mail, the student did and has been given that reply
the flat mate is the student
I have been told the student is not exempt because im on income support, yet the student has been told she is exempt and i am the one getting charged[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

25% is the student exemption, this is not CTB.
CTB is not a percentage, it is an amount. Your bill will show an amended amount - what is this amount, and what is the total?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I will write this again
I, KEITH WEBSTER, AM ON INCOME SUPPORT
I HAVE CLAIMED FOR AND BEEN AWARDED CTB
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT DUE TO ME CLAIMING CTB MY STUDENT FLAT MATE HAS TO PAY 75% CT
MY FLAT MATE IS A STUDENT, SHE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT SHE IS EXEMPT FROM COUNCIL TAX
THEY SAID THAT ME, KEITH WEBSTER, HAS TO PAY 75% CT.
WHICH ONE IS TRUE IF EITHER
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF EITHER OF THESE ARE TRUE?
WITH MY CTB AND THE OTHER FLAT MATE BEING A STUDENT, DOES THAT MEAN THAT NO CT SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR US TO PAY?[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

that is my point! why are we getting charged this when i am registered with CTB and the other tenant is a student, so should be exempt from CT?[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

The following email makes no mention of your CTB award. What does your CTB award say? How much is the award for?heres is the council tax offices reply
I am writing in response to your correspondence of 25th August regarding Student Exemption.
As there are two tenants in the property and you are the only student you have been disregarded for Council Tax purposes.
Mr Webster has been awarded 25% discount and is liable for the Council Tax charge of £496.32Gone ... or have I?0
