I have been told that the student is not exempt, i even say that in the original post if you read it.

my claim has come back saying that the student is not exempt even though they are a full time student

ok council tax 2 people living in a house both liable - 100% bill paid
1 person in house council tax reduced to 75%

so there are two people in your house so you would both have to pay 100% if you worked

however you have one student in the house who is exempt from paying thefore they count it as just 1 person who should pay council tax in the house you thefore bill is reduced to 75% (single person )

heres is the council tax offices reply

I am writing in response to your correspondence of 25th August regarding Student Exemption.

As there are two tenants in the property and you are the only student you have been disregarded for Council Tax purposes.

Mr Webster has been awarded 25% discount and is liable for the Council Tax charge of £496.32

    *sigh*

So are you saying that they have got confused between the 2 people and said you are the student instead of Mr Webster?

    (assuming you're not Mr Webster)
