Keet83 you are not exempt from paying council tax you stil have to pay however you get council tax benefit to pay for the council tax when on income support
a student is exempt and this is why the council tax is reduced to 75% the standard rate for a single person
My claim has been put in, thats why im getting told that the student is not able to be exempt.
i am starting to regret asking this question as some people are not helping at all, just trying to correct me when they dont understand[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -
It is you that is wrong. An exemption is completely different from being in receipt of CTB. Are you in receipt of a CTB award?
ok then, its just the same saying that i should not be paying council tax.
now can anyone answer the question? if not then i'm not interested![STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -
but your getting it reduced to 75% so that suggests that one of you is exempt from paying and as we have explained(even though you do not seem to like it) there is no exemption for income support so who is exempt if it is not the student ....My claim has been put in, thats why im getting told that the student is not able to be exempt.

We cannot answer the question if you do not give us the correct information. Do you have a CTB award, and if so, how much is it for?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I have been told that the student is not exempt, i even say that in the original post if you read it.
my claim has come back saying that the student is not exempt even though they are a full time student[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

Thats because the CT reduction is because of the student, not because of you!
The 25% discount is because the student is exempt as that means there is only 1 liable council tax payer, you. That is why you only have to pay 75%.0 -

It has not been answer at all! the question is because i have been placed exempt from CT with CTB does the that make the student not exempt?
it is the student that is getting charged NOT me[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

It isn't! A fulltime student will never get charged. If it goes to court, it's you that's likely to have to pay the full whack.0 -

That is not what is happening
the student is getting charged but i am getting excused
why is the STUDENT getting charged is the question?[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0
