hi all, just thought id let u know what happened: i didnt get any leave paid/unpaid, my mother has had to take annual leave to take care of him ! plus my work took the mick and offered my extra shifts as my mother will be there anyway ! bunch of jokers :eek:Rude people are a fact of life, if you wrestle with a pig you will stink! There's no getting around this concept. If you allow yourself to go someone's level you will only bring yourself down.0

I'd resign if I were you. The NHS has too many staff doing too little, anyway.
Go for it.0 -
And as for bendix saying its not life threatening,it could be if the OPs partner was to trip over while trying to stumble to the loo, fell over and hit his head then i suppose bendix would be blaming the OP saying she was neglecting her partner.Another one who wants to have it both ways.
Hey maybe bendix should be working in NHS management if they aren"t already!
What an utterly ridiculous argument. Do people have no concept of logic?
Jeez, based on your argument, I could say that everyone should have time off all the time to look after everyone in their family, because they might accidentally stub their toe, fall through the window and plummet to their deaths twenty floors below.
What if, what if, what if?
And no, I don't work in NHS management. I wouldn't go near the NHS with a bargepole - it should be abolished.0 -
I just hope that none of bendixs relatives or friends have the misfortune of having bendix care for them if they ever become ill or immobile cos with that the attitude towards illness that bendix has obviously got i would say the poor sod or sods would be well and truly stuffed!
If any of my relatives were sick, I would not expect other people to make allowances for me to care for them. I would not expect my employers to treat me specially, nor would I expect colleagues to cover for me.
Because, you see, I happen to believe in the notion of personal and individual responsibility. I know it's unfashionable in today's Britain, but there you go.0 -

i dont mean to be rude but a mastectomy or hysterectomy doesnt really hinder your basic function of walking ?
It doesnt but like most surgical procedures, recovery times vary enormously after surgery and you have limited knowledge of how you are going to be effected.
Take the example of a full hysterectomy, I have known some women be back at work 2 weeks later, others have taken 6 months or more to recover.0 -

There are two types of hysterectomy - abdominal and vaginal.
An abdominal hysterectomy consists of virtually every muscle and piece of flesh in the abdomen being cut through to reach the uterus. It is hugely debilitating, and yes, leaves the patient virtually bed-bound for sometime.
As the name suggests, in a vaginal hysterectomy the uterus is reached via an already available 'access point'. It is far less invasive surgery, and recovery time is therefore much quicker.
There are also various 'levels' of hysterectomy - depending on exactly how many of the associated lady bits need to be removed. Some levels can be carried out by laparoscopic surgery, again far less invasive, with a quicker recovery time.
It's not simply a case of one person recovering more quickly than another.0 -

.
I had this type and was out of hospital 4 days later. As I said, I never dreamed of having someone at home to look after me, although I certainly couldn't do much.0 -

I do realise that I have filmed enough hysterectomies including radical, total and partial using all the surgical techniques you mention, but my general point still stands, if you pick a cohort of patients that all undergo they same procedure, the recovery times will vary.
Patients age, weight, pre-surgery health and a whole host of other factors come into play when considering recovery time.0 -
and that was my original point, just because older recovered from her surgery with no help, doesn't mean that because my partners foot op will be the same. others have posted here that he will get over it in a few days...its only a foot op.....its just ridiculous. my point being none of you are orthopaedic surgeons therefore you don't know what your talking about in terms of his care.Rude people are a fact of life, if you wrestle with a pig you will stink! There's no getting around this concept. If you allow yourself to go someone's level you will only bring yourself down.0

Certain people in this thread dont and never will understand that everyone is individual and i certainly wouldnt waste my time trying to explain the concept of variable health conditions to people like this.It breaks my heart to know that there are people in this world who would be happy to leave ill or immobile relatives lying in their own bodily fluids (sh*t) rather than care for them. Mind you i was warned about certain elements on this website by someone on another website forum. Looks like theyve been proved right!0
