  • So, get on the phone now and call the union.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • currently on the phone to them now
Rude people are a fact of life, if you wrestle with a pig you will stink! There's no getting around this concept. If you allow yourself to go someone's level you will only bring yourself down.
  • just not my lucky day, they r gonna get back to me. they said they are not sure what they can do right away, especially as our union rep has left and not been replaced yet .

oh well i guess im goin to work

I dunno what you expect. You have no right to take time off just because you want it - or say you need it. Your OP is not in dire straits, and you jumping up and down and getting frustrated with HR or the union isn't going to change anything.

For goodness sake, the guy is having an operation on his foot, not his heart. How much care does he need? Painkillers, crutches - what more is there?

    It's not life-threatening. It's not critical.

What a molly-coddled bunch we are, these days.
  • sorry bendix i didnt realise u were a orthopaedic surgeon ??

do you want to come glasgow an advise my OH's consultant who has given quite specific after care details

i hope some one close to you has surgery and you are denied leave to care for them.

p.s im not throwing a strop im exploring my options, especially as my employer has double standards, my manager was off for 2dys on special leave because her daughter went into labour (her daughter who is married, so not alone), hmmmmmm thats fair

  • ah another sad pathetic person, who runs around being bitter, talking !!!! to people, and pretending they know everything ?

why do u even bother to reply ?????????? if u have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all ????????

i swear down i am praying you end up needing extensive foot surgery soon, then u will know how it feels.

Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realise you only wanted replies that were nice and that agreed with you.

    My apologies.

Let me try again: Yes, you're quite right. The man needs you to play the Florence Nightingale thing because it's obvious he won't even be able to go to the toilet without you to take him. And your bosses are all idiots because they can't see that and, anyway, the NHS is awful, and my bosses are fools and basically anyone who isn't me or closely linked to me is a complete buffoon because they don't see it the way i see it.

    Is that better?

I must remember to keep reinforcing the culture of rights and entitlement that people innately believe they have. Because we deserve it.
  • To be fair Bendix; she doesn't mind taking it unpaid; she just wants to be there for her OH.

I had a chum who broke a foot; which seems less worse than the OP's OH; and she couldn't move let alone hobble to the loo.

We all have families, and want to be there for them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • i wouldnt waste my time with bendix, just one of those sad folk that sit behind a computer all day ,talking !!!!, and pretending their opinion is really worth a damn. because along with bendix's day job he/she is also an orthopaedic surgeon.....dont know how he has time to sit on here all day /
