As a concession is a bonus and not mandated by law surely the company can set their own rules on it?
What would you do if after mentioning DDA to them they then turn around and withdraw the concession? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But should it be up to the company to decide who is disabled based on looks? There's a lot more to disability than being a wheelchair user.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Perhaps they should either stop offering any discount to anyone, or state that their discount is solely for people using wheelchairs. Surely they can do this?0 -

#Reporting Discrimination
The UK Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 (amended and extended in 2005) is overarching legislation that both defines disability and discriminatory behaviour and practices in the United Kingdom. If it is believed someone is in breach of these Acts, taking them to court is one way of reporting and hopefully stopping their actions. Reporting discrimination due to disability to local authorities is another method of calling attention to inappropriate practices, and reporting instances of discrimination to organisations working for disability rights may also help to eradicate such behaviours. The Equality and Human Rights Commission, the Disability Alliance UK and DIAL UK are all such organisations operating throughout the United Kingdom.

Not really.
Does it say that they have to consider all disabilities for a concession? I still believe that they can set their own rules for a concession. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
They won't accept any form of evidence except for a wheelchair, or if you appear disabled to the sale assistant. I have a DLA letter but she actually said to me on the phone that I don't sound disabled and that anyone can get hold of a DLA letter
the best advice i can offer is not to use the services this company supply.0 -
Definately name and shame.
How disgraceful, i don't sound or look disabled until i walk,
I walk like i have had a few,
had someone today in aldi tsk at me cause they assumed i was drunk
you'd think the walking stick would give it away.
I would get really angry if someone said i didn't sound disabled,
i mean how are disabled meant to sound!!!!0 -
next! and moving on...Loyal to those deserving!!.0

NO!!
Disability:
A person (P) has a disability if:- P has a physical or mental impairment, and
the impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on P’s - ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

They started discriminating as soon that they treat some person with different disabilities in a different way. What would you think if they refuse to give your kid the kid concession? if you argue that it should be the kid price that you pay and they turn around and say that your kid is far to tall/big for his age and do look much older!! Would you say "all right then, how much?"
I'm disabled, not in a wheelchair, but my life is now far more complicated now than before I got extremelly ill and I would give any concession in the world to get my health back any day of the week. the concession is not about saving money for a disabled person, it is about living your live as normally as you can and some of us need carer or helper to do that. Should we be financially penalised for that?
Don't offer the concession, fine. But if you do, do not discriminate and open it to every disabled customer.
AND YES NAME AND SHAME PLEASE!:mad:Look to me that for a lot of peoples it is not necessary to understand things in order to argue about them
Do thanks me if you find my post useful to you
