The purpose of my question is not to highlight the limitations of your qualifications, but to point out that doing some photocopying for a magistrate does not really give credibility to your opinion on liability in civil disputes or definitions of legal ownership of duty.

I am a practising solicitor with a BA, CPE and LPC working for an American Law firm in The City. Not that that makes me a world authority either, but beats a wikipedia reinforced legal training.

I am sure you have a fine time doing conveyancing if you are actually qualified. I don't believe you are. Also last time l looked the SQA was not part of Wikipedia, but hey ho you can't back up your silly arguments so you resort to an ad hominem attack.

I don't do photocopying for magistrates not that there is anything wrong with that, I expect a qualified solicitor would know what paralegals do but a sad troll with anger management issues wouldn't have a clue.
Guess which i believe you are.

If you don't want your car scratched - don't park it next to a pavement - use a garage.

Is that a joke? You should be able to park your car in any legal parking spot without having to risk damage from anyone.

O.P., the owner of the car has every right for that car to be returned to EXACTLY the condition it was in before your daughter damaged it, at your cost.

I hope the littleun is OK.

EDIT: Just seen it's turned out OK for everyone concerned, good stuff!

Wonder if you had still been "giggling" has the neighbour taken you to the small claims court to force you to pay for main dealer repairs.........?

And as a practising solicitor you think she would have won?

Remind me never to hire you.

Its not ok but it was just a small child being a child....she potentially put a scratch on a sh1tty punto.

OP, find out (as per my above post, if you already havent) if your daughter actually made the marks. Then offer to pay after seeing at least 3 quotes, if its stupid money just keep stalling to pay.

This is the attitude which causes problems. If someone like you damaged my vehicle, I would insist that you paid the full amount for it, no messing around with three quotes (unless they were identical;)).
If you messed me around with non payment, it would end up in the small claims court, with you having to pay the full costs as well.

Three quotes is a standard practice. I am sure many insurers would insist on that as well. You would be whistling for you costs as a court would probably say they were justified in this condition.
