  • A couple of yrs ago, one of the neighbours kids fell off his bike and scratched my car,he bricked it and ran home. He got someone else to tell me what happened,i went round to his house, and spoke to his dad, asked if he was ok, dad said he's in his bedroom, scared because it was my car he hit!! he asked about the damage, i said only 2 minor scratches, so not to worry.
Most of the local kids are scared of me, not thru anything i have done i hasten to add ........but i do tell them off if they are misbehaving .......... they call me shrek .......

  • a lot of the posts in this thread sum up the mentality of a lot of folk in this country

    ITs not my fault

    what about me

    me me me me

sod everyone else and their property, what about my feelings

Kids fall off bikes all the time, its part of growing up as is taking responsibility, if they say its going to cost X, thats the cost, they are not making anything from it

car owner is only asking to have their (new to them) car put right

    jeepers

Should have made the daughter go round to the 21 year old girl with her favourite teddy bear and offer to give her the teddy bear because she didn't get enough pocket money. That would have pulled at all the right heart strings in the 21 year old.

Or she could have took it, shaved a couple of bald patches on it, and handed it back.
It's only a bit of fur and stuffing.

Being that the car is owned by a 21 year old female, I will hazard a guess that within 6 months it will look like it has been driven through a hedge forwards, backwards & sideways. The alloys will be scuffed and the wing mirrors cracked as she attempts to navigate around whilst trying to apply make-up and windowshop at the same time.

BTW, the scratches pale into insugnificance when you realise that someone has scrawled over her number plate with a black marker pen!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

As opposed to being owned by a 21 year old male when it will have been driven through a hedge etc etc

    Change of plan.......
She came and spoke to my husband and said her mate will T-cut it for £30:j

Have no idea why the change of plan on her part-maybe she didnt fancy the home insurance route??

Either way its done and dusted-thanks for replies x

£30 to T-Cut???!!! Less than a tenner for the t-cut - so where's the rest of the money going?

But as someone pointed out - You were expecting to pay much more, so I would pay it and forget about it.

maybe a park or somewhere away from other people property would be more suited to a learner child on a bike , what would "nana" be saying if the child swerved the other and fell under a bus

My guess is the mate who is going to do it wants a few quid for his trouble.
    Certainly not unreasonable.

(and prob advised her to expect a few more scratches over time on the car ... they happen no matter how careful you are - stones on the road etc etc)

I bought my car brand new just over two years ago.

The left hand side has loads of tiny scratches down the side as a result of overgrown bushes on country roads:(
