  • Lol, I have so many cookery books its ridiculous! Last thing I need is more, but I will buy them.

Have you tried the chilli chocolate cake? Its nice, but next time, I'd use more tabasco :D

Is it in the first book?I couldn't see it.Is it fresh or dried chillies or powder?Sounds intriguing!

    I haven't baked many chocolate cakes,even though I love chocolate.:D

First book page 44, but its just tabasco sauce! Its not obvious when you eat the cake. DD had some chilli chocolate and that had a definate kick to it. But this just has a nice flavour. There are some biscuits called 'chocolate crackles' and I was planning on doing them later in the week :D Love chocolate!

    Yep,found it,but it's in the second book!

I do like the sound of a chocolate loaf cake!:D I think I'll have to try it,but doesn't tabasco have anchovies in something fishy/meaty?I'm asking because I'm a vegetarian.

The first book btw is called 'The Great British Book of Baking' ISBN 978-0-718-15711-1.It was published in 2010 to accompany the first series.

No, it's Worcestershire Sauce which has anchovies.

I think it's one of those cases where there's a different name in England for the same product in Scotland ... we call it golden syrup, they call it treacle (certainly where I lived in Yorkshire briefly) ... a bit like the turnip & swede thing ;)

That's right. I remember standing in a shop and wondering out loud why it was called treacle sponge when it was made with golden syrup. I was told by the assistant who heard me that it was called treacle in other places. Very strange, wonder what they call treacle.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Ah! Thank you both for that. You know, its going to bug me, what on earth do English people call treacle then??

So, did we think it was a good decision tonight? I'm not sure. I'm really liking the young Scottish lad, Cathryn, Danny and the vicar's wife. Possibly because I think they are OSers lol. Still struggling to remember everyones names. Brendan is irritating me.

I think we like the same ones, although I'm not that good with names either. I thought it would either be the one who lost or the older man and I'm pleased he's still there. Paul definitely has a soft spot for the Shetland lad though!
