    You could try adding spices such as cumin, chilli, ground coriander and some peas and make a kind of keema curry (I know it would normally be lamb)

    Ok - this is where I go back into 70s-style batch cooking freezing mode!

    Don't try and cook more than 2 kg at a time - you'll never be able to handle it- but to 2 kg of mince, chop up 1/4 kg onions, 2 tins cheap tomatoes. Dry fry the mince, pouring off the fat if it is excessive. If you want to bulk it out further at this stage, you can add a handful of cheapo porridge oats to the mince as it fries. Add the chopped onions and fry them out in the remaining fat. Add the 2 tins of tomatoes and fill one tin with water, add that to the mixture and simmer until soft. This is your basic mix. You can then either freeze it down in amounts suitable for your family - when I had a hungry family of 4 kids + 1 OH, I'd divide this amount into 5 - or turn it into bolognese sauce - adding tomato puree, garlic, mushrooms, spash of wine - you know how you like your bolognese; chilli con carne - add chopped chillies, soaked kidney beans, couple of squares of dark chocolate (you'll be surprised at how this intensifies the flavour); carrots & peas to make shepherds pie; make some shortcrust pastry, add chopped potatoes to the mix for mince & potato pie; to the basic mix add stir fried veggies and cooked rice to make my family's fav - maggots & mince !!! .

    You can then use another 2 kg to make meatballs - chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs & egg, burgers, use the meatball mixture & shape into patties, thread on barbeque skewers & grill.

    It was quite a satisfying way of cooking - seeing everything done at the end of the morning before feeding it into the enormous freezers that we fed in those days :)

    Nope i can't give her up i'm afraid she keeps my cupboards stocked up.
    I have 12 pks of loo roll an 18 easter eggs and 4 6pk of baked beans as well at the moment thanks to her:D.

    What a great present! - Practical useful presents aren't very sentimental but personally I appreciate them. I'd rather have a cauliflower than a bunch of flowers :rotfl:

    What about plate pies? :D - make a shedload of large ones - just add a different combination of vegetables and sices in each one - onion / tomato and garlic / mixed veg and black pepper /chopped potatoes / mushrooms / peppers - whatever you have in . . . . even rather elderly vegetables cook up well inside a nice pastry jacket :D

    Once cooked and cooled, slice up into meal sized portions and freeze for tasty, quick and easy dinners :D

    I would just divide it up into portions and freeze it to cook later.

    I simply wouldn't have the freezer space to pack in all the meals cooked - especially when most of us on here can stretch 1lb mince to do 6-8 portions or more.:D

    How about cooking the mince with grated ginger, chopped mushrooms, a splash of wine/sherry/sake and soy, spring onion and a little chilli (optional)? It could be frozen in little balls and then defrosted and wrapped in lettuce leaves or into chinese spring roll pastry, Thai rice paper circles or dropped into boiling chicken stock and served with rice or noodles along with cabbage/chinese leaves in the stock?
    I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    Someone sorted out some paint for our house the other day. In Tescos they had 2 big things of brocolli reduced to 20p each which I gave to her as flowers/maracas :rotfl:

    She doesn't eat mince.

    Do you not have any food preferences at all?

    Minced beef and dumplings,
    Minced beef cobbler - the kids at the school where I am a cook love the scones on top, you can use plain scones or cheese scones. :)
