Minced beef and dumplings,
Minced beef cobbler - the kids at the school where I am a cook love the scones on top, you can use plain scones or cheese scones.
But don't do what my SIL (admits herself she is the world's worst cook) once did when attempting a cobbler! She bought a packet of scone mix and used that for the topping. The problem was, it was sweetened scone mix! OMG, it was one of the worst things I have tasted!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

I made a chicken and ham pie a couple of weeks ago and the recipe said to use store-bought pastry. So I did.
It was also sweetened. Thinking about it still makes me SO sad that I ruined a pie!!0 -

How about cooking the mince with grated ginger, chopped mushrooms, a splash of wine/sherry/sake and soy, spring onion and a little chilli (optional)? It could be frozen in little balls and then defrosted and wrapped in lettuce leaves or into chinese spring roll pastry, Thai rice paper circles or dropped into boiling chicken stock and served with rice or noodles along with cabbage/chinese leaves in the stock?
That sounds gorgeous! Thanks for that recipe.0 -
!!!!!!? From this I take it you eat meat, but for some reason not if it has been minced?
What is wrong with you? Can you not eat steak if you cut it too thin? Can't eat sliced cold cuts unless they are over a certain thickness?
8kg of minced beef and you can't eat any of it?
I am intrigued. There was a program on CH4 the other day about bizzare and fussy eaters.
Even if i did like minced beef, i would still need ideas for 8kg of it.
I'd be more worried about yourself getting so aggrivated on the subject of a complete stranger not liking one food item.
I eat a varied diet. I doubt i could be called a fussy eater for not liking mince!0 -

Not at all aggravated, like I said, intrigued. No matter. You are missing out on burgers, spag bol, mince'n'tatties, kebabs, koftas, sharmi, shwarma, sheek, etc. All for no real reason whatsoever.
8kg of mince - I would make all of the above and freeze the latter for the barbie. Hope that helps.0 -

She doesn't eat mince. That is a valid reason. That is all.0 -

Oh yes, my DH absolutely LOVES mini pies.
I make them with shortcrust pastry in muffin tins and just about anything will go in them (the filling should be cooked and cooled before putting into the pastry case)
And these pies are great for stretching meat...
My hubby doesn't consider it a meal unless he has meat, but when I do mini pies, it doesn't occur to him there might only be about 3 cubes of meat and a few vegetables in each one - and he thinks he's had a good meal!!
They're also brilliant for leftovers, of course. I have used leftover bolognese, chilli, stews, etc. In fact, whenever we have leftovers of any kind, my DH says, "Oh goody, make it into mini pies..."

Not quite the same, but that reminded me of something my brother did years ago. He bought a pie and chips from the chip shop, and when he got home he found it was an apple pie, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Nodette, I love the sound of those mini pies in a muffin tin. We could use up leftover casseroles and things that way. Can I ask if you need to bake the pastry blind first?0
