I brought a cheesy bolognese pie from Mr T last week which was very nice (It was YS I hasten to add, I don't want to get kicked out of the board for buying a pie lol)
It was pastry case filled with bolognese and a thick cheese sauce with breadcrumbs and grated cheese on top. I plan on making my own version as I always have some bolognese left over. I would blind bake the pastry case first to prevent the dreaded soggy bottom.
  • Thanks for adding my thread to more mince Pink that has helped me be inspired.

I tried to do Keema curried mince but i think I didn't add enough curry powder, it was wetter than I expected too. The recipe I found was : mince beef, onions, 2 med potatoes, 1 tin chopped toms, 200ml of beef stock, 4 tbsp curry powder.
I like a drier style ( from the curry house) and then add some to rice or in bread but it wasn't possable with this as it was quite a bit wetter.

But thanks to all for the help :)

I have 400g of mince that I want to cook today and freeze.

I know that some people can get a couple of meals at least out of that by making mince based meals from it.

I was wondering what you put in the base mix before you divide it, say into 3 portions, chili, spag bol etc?

    Ta.

my base is pretty simple, and I bulk it out after defrosting depending on what it's for.

garlic, lots of onions cooked slowly for a long time before adding the mince, finely chopped carrot, handful or so of oats (or dried savoury soya is my favourite addition - one third soya mince to two thirds meat) tomatoes in whatever form I have - chopped fresh, tinned, passata, salt and pepper. Stock of whatever form you prefer to use - need quite a lot of liquid if using soya

I then add depending on what I'm cooking it for.
