I changed to Tesco's for a while, but that's yuck too (though not as bad as Vegemite) so had to change back. A jar lasts for ages anyway so I don't really mind.

Ever noticed how you can always get an extra scrape out of the "empty" jar, enough for another slice of toast at least:j

The trick is to lay the jar on one of the thinner sides overnight, you can get a reasonable scrapeing pooled up in the jar.

A medium sized jar only lasts us about a week, we are obsessed with the stuff! I make drinks out of it like others do with Bovril, and make Marmite pastry strips, which are a little like twiglets.

    I lurve Marmite :D

It is available elsewhere more cheaply but still a lot more than Marmite.

    I remember trying Boots--as in chemist--veg extract & thinking it was a X twix Marmite & Bovril.

Have to say that I'd get lynched if we ever ran out of Marmite in this house:D

Curious tho, that the OP asked for nutritional differences as opposed to taste, & no-one has really answered.......I couldn't tell you either cuz growing up my sister was the Bovril fan whilst I've always been a Marmite Baby:rotfl:

  • funnily enough after not eating marmite for years I have been buying it for the last few weeks following a craving. Def not pregnant. And now am a fan again. I asked my veggie ds what he thought about it and he said "It's ok I suppose" Is he the only person in the world who is indifferent ?
Apparantly marmite is good for menopausal women. So maybe that was why I was craving it, in fact I am going to have some now.
