I have now joined facebook but how to get details circulated still eludes me. We had a couple of calls last night as a result of a lost ad in the local paper, but sadly they were not him, Foxy is still missing. I am still working on the more publicity I can give him the better the chance of getting him back and trying to work out how to start a
'Find Foxy' campaign.
My father got him from the local Dogs home and he was a nervous, thin little dog who had chewed all the fur from his from legs. He jumped up and down in the pen from his back to his front legs in a rocking motion. He did this all day and all night only stopping to eat. At a result no one wanted him and he was in the dogs home for over three weeks.
The home contacted his last registered owner via the microchip company who denyed owning him, saying he had been rehomed a month ago but could not remember where or to whom.
This was a dog which no one wanted and was in a desperate state.
My father loved him at first sight and Foxy felt the same jumping into his arms and licking his face. Since we got him he put on weight and the fur grew back, he is a real character who has brought so much pleasure to our lives.
Hopefully if anyone reading this forum sees him or knows someone who may have taken him in they will get in touch.
Thanks again for all your efforts.0 -
Another avenue is to try local dog walking companies, kennels, pet sitters etc as they may spot him when out on their rounds.0

Sorry to hear about the missing pooch, fingers crossed he is found soon
my only advice I can add is don't just ring kennels asking if they have a dog like him, go to them and look around
a friend of mine lost her dog for about 6 weeks, she went to the local pound where the dog warden takes stray dogs and eventually found her dog, they tried to charge the stray dog fee and 6 weeks board which my friend refused to pay, when asked why she pointed to her dogs photo on the wall, yup the photo had been there 6 weeks and so had her dog
Good luck!A heap big thank you to everyone who posts the comps, your all stars!
Proud to of never used or felt the need to use a chain of any sorts on a puppy0 -
Yes, dont take no as correct. Chips have been known to move around the dogs body so you do need to go and see the pounds - they can get the breed and the sex wrong when you ring.0

Please try the neighbouring pounds and dog wardens as well as your own - I ended up with a stray dog on saturday (outside the supermarket!) - when I rang the dog warden I was told they would be four hours, so decided to take him home and ring from there, so we could wait indoors.... however, when I rang again, because I live just inside the next district council area, they wouldn't come out and told me to ring the DW for this area.
I refused as I didnt want him to go to the 'wrong' pound, where his owners would be unlikely to find him.
In the end, he stayed here overnight, and thankfully his owners reported him missing to the DW the next morning, and he passed me their contact details, and they came and collected him the next day!0 -
Just an update.
Foxy is still missing.
I have visited the three local dogs homes again today and posted some more posters further afield. I have been down to the local canal showing his pictures to boaters and handing out leaflets just in case anyone sees him along the tow path. I am getting more desperate to get him back with each day that goes by.
I have tried the local radio station where a rather aloof lady said they 'did not do lost dog announcements'and I have tried the local paper but to no avail, but I have placed further ads in the lost and found section. So if there are any journalists out there who would be able to cover the story I would be very grateful.
It has been suggested that the Radio WM - Ed Doolan may help but I have not been able to find a contact number , so Ed if you are out there please get in touch.
I realise some people will say whats all the fuss its just a dog . The point is he is a very special dog that brings joy to two elderly people and we want him home. He has already had a life as an unwanted stray before my parents had him and I would hate him to go through that again. With 5th November coming up I need to find him soon.0 -

No Way, NEVER "just a dog", they are a part of our families, and very much loved.
Those that say what's all the fuss about have probably never owned a pet.
I really wish I lived closer, as I'd be offering to help you with posters and leaflets etc.
Keep trying, ask all your Dads local pubs and shops if you can put a poster there too. The more places Foxys face gets seen the better.
Really hoping that Foxy turns up soon.**This space is available to rent**0 -
Hello
So sorry to hear about Foxy, I can't imagen how you and your father must be feeling. As sleepystar says they are a part of our family.
I would certainly make posters and put them in the area Foxy went missing also close to areas Foxy is familiar or his 'walking route' such as parks, roads and fields.
I would go and ask people in the immediate area, ask them to keep there eye out and to check there gardens.
I really hope you find him soon wishing you lots of luck and thinking of you.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0 -
Found a email address or Ed Doolan, hope it helps ed.doolan@bbc.co.uk0

Thank you so much I have emailed Ed so all my hopes now rest with him.
I have been to see a dog at the local rescue which was described like Foxy, but when I arrived it was not him, in fact nothing like him but I have left them a picture and hope that the little dog there finds a home soon.
If anyone else wants to email Ed to support the 'Find Foxy' announcments which I am hoping for, I would be grateful.[/IMG]
