Solar1, I Hope you dont mind, but I have gone ahead and set up a facebook group to help try and find Foxy.

    http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_159584310738546

I am in the process of sending the group out to the combination of my friends and erm my dogs 'friends' thats nearly 550 people - it appears that FB have changed how they work the groups etc, so everyone is automatically added to the group until they decide to leave by the looks of things, so the numbers of people in the group may fluctuate either way. I hope it helps in some way get Foxy home.

Thank you all for your efforts, my father is very emotional about the way everyone on here wants to help.

Thanks to ickle_me for setting up the Facebook page.

I have contacted more vets and widened the search. As they all now have a picture of him they have assured me that they will scan any dog bearing his description, whereas they would only normally scan strays. I have also contacted the Sun, Itv and the BBC. ITV are discussing it on thursday to see if they want to run with the story but I think it unlikely although if we can increase his face book group then this may swing it, the other two have not bothered to reply at this stage. I will let you know how I get on.

I need to keep Foxy in the public eye, the media are only interested if it increases their readers or viewers. If we can build up Foxys facebook group to a substantial then that may make a difference. A missing dog with a face book following may make a story for them. My only objective is to get Foxy back, but I realise that in this case we may be down to people power. Can I please ask that you all join his facebook page and get all your friends to do the same. The high I can raise his profile the better.

MSE is regularly reported as making a difference, please help me to make a different now. By highlighting the issues with micro chipped pets which are lost, we may be able to succeed where celebrities have failed.

We have two cats called Roy & Moss, We let them out during the day and call them back in if they've not come in by themselves around 6pm.
On Monday Roy didn't come back in, we called until midnight and stayed up later just in case. The cat flap is on one way.
Yesterday we informed the micro-chip people who have put alerts out to local vets/rescues.
We've e-mailed local rescues with a picture and details
We've spoken to neighbours, last sighting of him was just after 4pm on Monday
We've posted leaflets and put posters up
I've emptied the hoover on the front lawn
    He's on missing pet registers
We were out all yesterday and have just been out for another 45 minutes whilst it's quiet again. Once he did get stuck in a garage we found him around 10:30pm by calling him and heard him meow
I'm worried sick, one minute I think, Oh he'll come back, next minute I'm thinking the worst and I hate the idea he's stuck somewhere. We don't live near any main roads, we've climbed through hedges, brambles and looked through the woods.
Before Monday night, he'd never spent the night out away from home, not even in a cattery.
Today we're going to phone a company called http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/
We think we're covered by his pet insurance, but frankly I'm willing to do anything to get him home safe and sound. Has anyone used their services at all?
Anyone with any ideas or experience of a normally well behaved cat just not returning one day, please tell me you got them back safe and sound.
    Thank you in advance

  • Hi,
I work in Cannock and have asked around the office and forwarded the details to everyone i work with. Apparently all lost dogs locally go to Sunnyside Kennels in Coven so it might be worth contacting them.
    Best of luck

  • Oh what a beautiful cat. I have everything crossed that he comes back safe and sound. It must be so awful having to just sit and wait; this hasn't happened to us before touch wood but anytime one of our cats isn't in when I get home from work my heart goes to my throat, as they are very homey creatures. It sounds like you are doing everything you can; just keep doing it.
If you aren't near any main roads and are able to keep an eye on other roads nearby, that's one possibility pretty much eliminated, thankfully; maybe he's just out exploring a bit further. Keep going out and calling for him - one thing I've read is that you should only call him when you are on your way back home rather than walking away from home, that way he can follow your voice home, rather than follow it further away.
Garages and sheds are a real possibility - at this time of year there's lots of garden tidying going on and plenty of opportunity for a cat to slip in unnoticed.

GOOD LUCK. (I love your cats' names by the way, guessing you are an IT crowd fan).
  • Hi, what a gorgeous cat! I was just thinking do the streets locally have back yards/gardens where there are possible sheds? i would print off a load of 'Missing Cat: please check all garages/sheds to make sure he hasnt been shut in and contact me on 0000000000 if found' and put them through everyones letter boxes for the surrounding streets, as he may have sneeked in someones shed and they have just shut the shed door and not gone in since.. its a possibility.. does your other cat have a collar that he knows the sound of? I notice on your pic roy has a little bell on his, maybe you could take the collar off your other cat for an hour and walk around jangling that see if he hears that he might think ooh.. its moss and come out if he's hiding, I dont have cats myself im just trying to think of things id do.

Hope he comes home hun, and I too love the names from the IT crowd :)

Thank you yes, I've not been calling too far away, mainly his regular haunts. I feel helpless though.
He is a beautiful cat and very friendly too, luckily for the 8 year old girl at our previous house who kept picking him up and returning him every 10 minutes. She brought him back through the front door and he left again by the back door until she found him again.
I bought the cats as a surprise for my husband 2 years ago (they're brothers) and he named them after that show.
I've arranged for animal search uk to come as they have more expertise and might be able to think of things that we haven't, fresh pair of eyes and all that.
Not very money saving but to be honest, I'm willing to try anything if there is a chance of finding him.
