  • Dont know if its any help but there is a fox terrier rescue, it may be a idea to contact them in case a lost dog is handed in to them? foxterrierrescue.co.uk

I contacted the Fox terrier rescue yesterday they will put details in their paper and are on alert if anyone tries to rehome him. The co-ordinator there is going to a show today and will alert co-ordinators in other areas.

I am printing some more notices which I will take around local estate agents tomorrow, on the grounds that people going in there will be looking around the area and may see him or someone with him. I have been to the local Car Boot sales today ( been up since 5.30am ) and posted notices on all entrances and exits. I have also contacted the highways agency who have confirmed that they have had no dog incidents in the surrounding 20 mile radius, dead or alive so to speak.

I am beginning to think that as where we live is quite rural that someone has picked him up thinking he has been dumped( they could not be more wrong). I am sure if they were aware of the heartache we are going through they would return him. All the farmers know whose dog he is and will phone me if he turns up.

As he has not yet turned up at the local dogs homes it would appear that anyone who has picked him up is not aware that they should contact the local dog warden when they find a stray dog, in which case we would be able to identify him through his microchip. I have even been to the nearest gypsy camp and left a poster in sheer desperation as I do not know what else to do.

My daughter is preparing a powerpoint which we thought we may be able to get onto You tube ( well she may I have not got a hope). I will let you know if this works.

I am just going to put some large posters on estate agent type boards which we have made in the hope that whoever has him may be traveling the same route today as they were last week.

Unless I can get some help from newspapers or radio (I have even sent a plea to The Sun) I feel that we may lose him for ever.

I really hope he turns up, Im so sorry for you it must be awful.
Have you tied all local vets etc they may hear if someone takes on a new dog thinking its a stray.
Also local pet shops etc if anyone has picked him up and keeps him they may go in to local pet shop for food etc.
Posters in all local groomers, pet shops, vets etc might help.
I hope Ed Doolan will put out an appeal for you.
Dont know if you have tried dogpages website, ads in local papers etc.
You have probably tried all these and more I just feel for you and your family and hope he turns up. Another place to try might be the horse and hound forum they have a dog section and lots of people read it so it might be worth a try
  • Haveyou tried the k9pages on internet.

I have just made a plea for anyone who has seen Foxy to get in touch on the Ed Doolan show, so thanks to BBC WM.

In conversations with local councils it seems that even if your dog is micro chipped that it is a bit of a lottery whether you get him back. This goes from one extreme where the council insist that any dog reported is collected by the dog warden and taken to the dogs home where they are scanned. The other more alarming extreme is where one local council ask the finder to take the dog to the vets to see it is microchipped, but then never check back with the finder or check with the vet to see if this has been done.

I have canvassed local vets 9 in total all of whom have said that if a stray dog was brought in then they would scan it, but if someone came in with a newly acquired dog they would not as 'it may upset the owner'. What is clear is that the system used is not robust enough at present to ensure that microchipped pets are returned and with some councils this seems to go into the too difficult box almost straight away.

Sorry for the rant but as you can see I am now even desperate, so anything else you can think of would be appreciated.

I have as suggested now posted on the Horse and Hound forum as well. As someone on there has pointed out the more publicity the more chance of recovering him as he will be 'too hot to handle' so to speak.

Thanks for all your support it is appreciated.

I really hope that Foxy is found and soon. I've posted this thread to my FB profile, I'm not from Cannock but I have friends all over the place, if they re-post it, who knows? like someone else mentioned if his photo etc is displayed enough then more people are aware.

    xx

Thanks Tigzem if everyone could post him on facebook I feel that someone would be able to recognise him and we may stand a chance of getting him back. If someone has him they cannot hide him forever although he may be in a different area by now , hence I need as much help as I can get.

    Thank you all

will put him on my facebook
  • You could try the pre loved website, not sure if they do lost and found but they have a pet section and you never know if someone may put him on there. There are also dog magazines ie dogs today etc that might help or advise.
    Good luck
