Anyone Like Fast cars

My Perdana's the fastest car I've owned- probable top speed around 170ish....reasonably cheap as a road car as long as you resist tapping the accelerator with overdrive off!
I've driven quite a few, and was disappointed by the TT (saw it mentioned in an earlier post). It felt quite sluggish really, and the 'rear seats' were pretty much a joke.
Got taken out by a stunt team once in a 350z- that was amazing! being stupid enough to agree to harness so I could lean out the passenger window and also stand at times (photographic purposes) meant I definitely remembered it.
Capri 2.0l sport was fun, but I remember the car having more than a few problems- though sweet to look at.
Mitsi Evo 10- very nice performance, but not really aggressive in styling for my tastes.
Honda's civics- the local police use them, and they do move, and look good too. Never driven one, though have tried asking them. They've told me they're a !!!!!! to fuel.
Now *considering* turbo'ing the V6.
Sportier cars will cost more to run, and depending on what's under the bonnet, can be trickier to service as well.... which is why I have the coupe as a daily driver (133bhp, so not too bad).0 -
OP could always go for one of these:
VXR Astra, by all accounts theres too much power for the car to handle and the torque steer is a killer. Might be fun!
Fastest car I've ever driven was a twin turbo 3.0l Toyota Supra. Astoundingly quick car, terrifying.
And my old Import 1994 Toyota Celica GT 2.0 whilst fairly economical around town was superb fun if driven with the revs high. Only £1,000 to buy too. Loved that car, but sadly too impractical for new family
Generally (and this is probably a huge generalisation) I like diesels, but I find the power comes in burps, as oppose to petrol cars which keep on accelerating all the way to the red line.0 -
Might be worth looking at the new Subaru Impreza if you're after a hatchback. I'm not a fan of them myself, but compared to the other hatchbacks mentioned (Civic, Astra VXR etc.) at least the Impreza isn't FWD. I believe it also makes 280bhp as standard in STI trim and is just as easy to mod as the earlier models.
Just don't get it in blue with gold alloys. Please!0 -
Honda Civic Type R - is there a 5 door in those?
I'm currently selling a 2005 Type S Civic which I've been very pleased with. It's softer than a Type R though, around 165bhp to the Type R's 200, and the suspension is a little more forgiving. The thing I loved about it is that it has very subtle styling, so doesn't look anything special.
It's a warm hatch, rather than a hot one.0 -

Celica was quite low.....but it's high when compared to the Z4.
Z4 is the lowest car I've driven.
One of the guys at work got a Fiesta st150 so we went for a look.....and it felt like a bus when I sat in it....it was so high.
Of course it wasn't that high but in comparison it was.
Z4 is an awesome car.....I'll get another one sometime....but it'll be the Z4M next time!!
not sure what the lowest car i've been in
but ownership the celica running on TTE springs
recently been in a drive in a honda s2k and made me remember how i prefer a low slung car to drive.
the TT was lowish, but didn't feel like part of the car when sat in it like the celica.
also been in the previous shape fiesta. made me laugh that it's top spec model ST as it was harsh, plastic, nothing i could justify. for me the clio sport had more of a responsive engine0 -

what's the budget? how about a mk5 golf R32. sound track from the V6 is awesome, the grip from the 4wd system is ace and on a long run mid 30's mpg can be had0 -

My Celica was standard but still low.
I expect the Z4 and S2000 will be a similar driving position....but very different to drive given their very different engines. I thought about getting the S2000 before the Z4 but decided I was a bit old for revving an engine to 8-9000rpm!!!
No need for anything like that in the Z4 yet similar power and loads more torque.
Z4 was very responsive too.
I agree about the Fiesta.....the ST didn't feel like a top model. The only clues were the nice material on the seats and the sporty bumper. Other than that it seemed like every other model. Admittedly wasn't driving it.
Current car is a remapped A4 2.0T quattro. Awesome in the winter and with the remap it has loads more torque than before. Great to drive and excellent for overtaking.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -
a friend had a top spec tdi fiesta which had the same interior as the ST of sporty seats etc.
got to say the R32 is a good blend ;-)0 -
