Just a quick bump... how have you found insurance for cars like these? Going from a car that does 0-60 in 10 seconds to one that does it in 6 is quite a job. I have already factored this in my budget, but obviously the cheaper I can get it, the better it will be!0

We've a scooby and i'd say factor in for *heavy* fuel usage. Ours does 24mpg on runs. Thats quite a difference in percentage terms to a VXR / GTi which will probably do well into the 30's on runs0 -

It's the same as any car really, a complete lottery.
There are some ways to reduce premiums, having a tracker fitted etc.
I can recommend http://www.bell.co.uk/. They've always been pretty good for me on my group 18 car.0 -

Thanks, yeah I'm trying to take that into account along with higher insurace and road taxIt's the same as any car really, a complete lottery.

Not bad, less than £1200 but I think I can get it cheaper0 -
My current car (Audi A4 2.0T quattro) was going to be insured by elephant for a miniscule (relatively speaking) £317. As soon as I mentioned the remapped ecu they wouldn't insure it......at all.
Eventually found RAC would cover it (underwritten by Aviva) with the remap and 19inch alloys declared.
Z4 3.0SE was standard and insured for £460.
I'm 38 with max no claims and a decent postcode.
I feel sorry for new drivers these days because when insurance is invariably 4 figures, it's often more than the car. My first policy was in 1991 for a 1975 VW Beetle...and cost me £311 TPF&T.
If my insurance was four figures I know for a fact there's no way I'd have a car with a 0-60 time of under 5.5seconds.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

back to square one with all this was going to settle for a slightly lower spec model, but it turns out that boot is too shallow!0

I had to pay 4 figures for one with a 0-60 time of a couple of days :rotfl:
Currently £760 a year for a 2007 Renault Laguna 2.0 16v Dynamique (which, oddly, is less than for a 2006 Nissan Primera 1.8 S)0 -

I'm male, 21 years old, 4 years no claims, Live in MK13, Drive a 3 litre BMW 330ci Clubsport 2003 plate and pay just under £1000. This is with Admiral insurance. Definitely worth getting a quote with them. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
<geek mode on> Strictly speaking that is an imported DC2 so would likely cost more to insure <geek mode off>
I have a Honda Prelude 2.2 - same kind of performance (200bhp - 0-60 in 6.7 secs) but you can also get 31 mpg with a bit of heavy foot and 35-36mpg driving carefully.
please tell me that is an average otherwise that's POOR... currently driving a 5.7litre Camaro which averages 20(ish) (but then again the trade off is it does 5.3 to 60 and 160(ish) top end) and 30 on a run. That being said though I'll be selling it for more than I paid for it and spare parts/insurance is insanely cheap0
