Well! About to sit down and attempt to make an astronaut costume from three boxes, sellotape and tinfoil
(is there a thread for that on here? It's rather MSE of me... my first impulse is naturally to go buy a buzz lightyear costume lol)
I'm going to do the online shopping tonight. Shall I start week one of the vegetarian meal plan, or does anyone want anything testing?I bought a food processor yesterday, so many things I cook need one and I just kinda blue peter it lol. But it was cheap, a decent make and I know I'll get the use from it (even if I don't have the room! lol)
DD's starts full days at big school from tommorrow (ds is in year 2, she's started reception) so going to have more time around the house now!0 -

I do hope there is photo of this creation
I made the breakfast pancakes today
I didn't add the raisins, cos I didn't have any.
And I used some wholemeal flour, instead of all self raising (half and half) ... because it needs using up. I did add in a wee half teaspoon of baking powder to compensate... but I probably should have put in a wee bit more, as they didn't puff up as much as I had hoped.
Never the less, they were very tasty.
The garam masala deffo makes them, in my opinion
And there is some for the freezer too0 -

Love the recipe for French Onion Soup. Will try it when I finally get to go shopping!
Went to Tesco, got there at 4.10pm, they closed at 4pm! Thought they closed at 5pm on a Sunday! DS wasn't happy as he likes riding in the trolley and I don't do that at Sainsburys.0 -

Must have been the day for it snow - I bought one too!! What one did you get? I got a Kenwood - reduced from £149 to £49 - thought that was a good deal :j I have used it today to grate a big block of cheese for the freezer, blitz the end of a loaf( for the freezer) and a batch of dough cos the breadmaker was already on and couldn't be used til 6 and I wanted an early night. I will be trying the nut butters, hummous, stuffing and various other things this week in it.

it's working out how to reduce the food spend but balance it up with my fussy lot! I try to cook lots of things from scratch, but I hate curry so it has always come from a jar. Add to that a (not so) DH who doesn't think he has had a meal unless it has half a pig on the plate, a DS with AS who has a 'slightly' limited diet, a veggie DD1, DD2 who doesn't eat bread and DD3 who isn't too bad, it can be a bit tricky. But our food spend is probably the 2nd biggest spend after the mortgage ( sometimes even more than the mortgage ) a month so it HAS to be cut.

The new recipes look scrummy - can't wait to try them, but have enough meals for this week so will have to put them on next weeks plan.

sorry a bit off topic, but has anyone see or read the book Julie and Julia? About the woman who makes every single receipe from a french cookbook over a year? I read it, and found some of the book hard going, but it was interesting.0
